Dallas Cowboy Coach Spotted At 7 on 7 Tournament
Former Dallas Cowboys’ Head Coach, Dave Campo was back coaching the Cowboys July 11th and 12th at College Station during the FSN Southwest 7-on-7 state tournament. This time it was the Coppell Cowboys and not the NFL Dallas Cowboys. Coppell was able to advance to the Championship bracket on Saturday after going 2-1 in pool play on Friday. Campo’s son, Michael plays WR for Coppell. Coach Campo was a huge hit at the tournament as he was quickly recognized and even took team photos with other schools. Campo was the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys from 2000-2002 and is now there secondary coach.
Coppell Results:
Pool Play
Lost to Temple 33-28

Beat Klein Oak 21-13
Championship Play

Crane crowned new champion
The Cranes were golden in the DII title game as they rung up Navasota, 38-27. Quarterback Lloyd Chisum took home the Lone Star Gridiron MVP & the FSN MVP with excellent play on both sides of the ball. (2 TDs, 1INT and 1 defensive TD.)
Navasota’s Dexter Pratt and Brandall Jackson fought hard and shone throughout, but Crane’s last second INT sealed the win.

Richland Completes Perfect Championship Run
The Richland Rebels entered the FSN Southwest 7on7 State Tournament on nobodies list of favorites, but it didn’t matter to them. Through pool play Richland remained a perfect 3-0 and with five layers of players remaining, the odds against them were still long.
By the time the Rebels reached the semi-finals, the critics were silenced and when they showed up in the title game against Mesquite, the Fort Worth area squad had attracted a bandwagon full of supporters.
Down early to the Skeeters of Mesquite, and with Tournament MVP Phillip Gonzales out because of cramping, the Rebels fought their way back into the lead and then held on for a 35-32 victory
Congratulations Rebels!
Championship Matchups Set for FSN 7on7
Langham Creek and Abilene are playing in the Consolation Bracket title game and Mesquite will take on Richland in the Championship Bracket.
The road to the top for Mesquite and Richland:
Mesquite downed Arlington Lamar 34-33 in overtime. The game was tied 27 at the end of regulation when Lamar scored with very little time remaining. In the extra period, Mesquite scored on the opening play when Luke Halpin hit Jake Bennett to take the lead 34-27 with the PAT. Arlington Lamar responded with a strike to Travis Smith in the endzone. The Vikings went for two and the victory, but the pass to Aker was nabbed by the Skeeters’ Darnell Taylor.
Richland handed Colleyville Heritage a 42-24 loss as they jumped out early with a torrent of passes to Phillip Gonzales and never looked back. The win put the Rebels in the Championship game for the first time with a perfect 7-0 record.
