Ike giveth and Ike taketh away

It looked as though the only positive thing that would come from Hurricane Ike's interruption of Texas high school football would be the possibility of Galena Park North Shore facing Southlake Carroll as they attempted to break the regular season win streak - a streak set by Southlake Carroll. Two canceled North Shore games, due to the effects of Hurricane Ike, seemed to setup the historic battle but the Galena Park school district announced that the game will not take place.

With a large area of South Central Texas still suffering the aftermath of Ike's wrath, this matchup is another in a long line of heartbreaks albeit a small one in the grand scheme of things. Sure, it would have been historic. Sure, it would have been a blast for football fans. In the end though... yes, even football takes a back seat to the bigger picture sometimes.
