Waco Midway State Qualifying Tournament Pools

Here are the pools, breakdowns and of course my predictions for the Waco Midway State Qualifying Tournament this weekend.

Pool A: Waco Midway, Edcouch-Elsa, Killeen Harker Heights, Austin Bowie

The host Waco Midway will be led by all-state 4-star Commit DB to Baylor Ahmad Dixon and WR Levi Norwood. The always dangerous and LSG’s favorite traveling team Edcouch-Elsa will always be competitive. Killeen Harker Heights went 2-1 last week and will be led by RB Kerry Sloan. Austin Bowie was 2-1 last week and will try to be the upset victor.

Mike’s Pick: Edcouch-Elsa

Pool B: Arlington, Round Rock Westwood, Killeen Shoemaker, Mission Sharyland

Arlington went 1-2 at the Arlington Lamar SQT while Round Rock Westwood went 2-1 at the SQT they hosted. Killeen Shoemaker will bring a very talented QB in Jameill Showers (2150 yrds passing in 2008, 4-star recruit Committed to Texas A&M). Mission Sharyland will have a tough time but will keep things close.

Mike’s Pick: Killeen Shoemaker

Pool C: Arlington Lamar, Belton, Cedar Park Vista Ridge, Lampasas

Arlington Lamar went 1-2 last week and will be led by All-State RB Ja’Terian Douglas (2036 rushing yards in 2008). Cedar Park Vista Ridge finished 2-1 last week and will bring talent like RB Calvin Thompson and DB Michael Pickett. Belton and Lampasas will try to keep up.

Mike’s Pick: Arlington Lamar

Pool D: Stephenville, Austin High, Killeen, Midlothian

Stephenville as always will bring a strong team. Austin High will bring one of the areas top QB’s in Jacob Morgan (2285 yrds passing in 2008). Midlothian went 2-1 and will be led by WR Eddie Johnson and RB Torey Harris. Killeen will have a tough time competing.

Mike’s Pick: Stephenville

Pool E: Mercedes, Temple, Bastrop, Round Rock

Mercedes is another one of those great traveling teams. They always bring a good team. Temple will showcase one of the states top prospects in RB Lache Seastrunk (4.4 speed 1541 rushing yards in 2008, 4-star recruit) and LB Derrick Davis. Bastrop went 2-1 last week while Round Rock went 0-3.

Mike’s Pick: Mercedes

Pool F: Copperas Cove, Georgetown, Mabank, Joshua

Copperas Cove went 1-2 last week and will feature RB Brandin Byrd. Georgetown was 1-2 last week. They will feature WR Adriane Rocha (70-857 yards in 2008). Mabank and Joshua will bring competitive teams.

Rosenberg Terry State Qualifying Tournament Pools

Here are the pools, breakdowns and of course my predictions for the Rosenberg Terry State Qualifying Tournament this weekend.

Pool A: Fort Bend Dulles, Rosenberg Terry, Houston Bellaire, Houston Westside

Houston Bellaire has already qualified with a runner up finish at the Texans (Saturday) SQT. They have a 3-2 record Fort Bend Dulles has gone 1-2 this year but their win was against pool opponent Houston Bellaire 26-20. They will be led by DB’s C.J. Love and Zach McMillian. Host Rosenberg Terry has gone 2-1 this year in SQT play while Houston Westside led by RB Frank Williams, WR Jordan Sampso, LB’s Kevin Rodriguez and Chad Thompson have gone 0-3.

Mike’s Pick: Fort Bend Dulles

Pool B: Crosby, Richmond Foster, Katy Cinco Ranch, Houston Memorial

Katy Cinco Ranch looks to be the leader in this pool. Led by Rice commit LB James Radcliffe they are 2-1 in SQT play. Crosby, Richmond Foster and Houston Memorial will be battling it out for 2nd place.

Mike’s Pick: Katy Cinco Ranch

Pool C: Katy, Houston Strake Jesuit, Rosenberg Lamar Consolidated, Fort Bend Austin

The 2008 Division II Champin Katy has tons of talent. RB Will Jeffrey (1483 yards rushing in 2008), QB Michael Stojkovic, WR Ryan James, Stanford commit TE Zachary Swanson and DB Sam Holl will lead the way. Houston Strake Jesuit, Rosenberg Lamar Consolidated and Fort Bend Austin will be fighting it out for 2nd place just like the teams in pool B.

Mike’s Pick: Katy

Pool D: Waller, Alvin Manvel, Katy Mayde Creek, Fort Bend Travis

Waller has gone 0-2 but will keep the games close. Alvin Manvel has been impressive going 5-2 in SQT play making it to the semifinals at their SQT. They will be led by WR SaQwan Edwards and DB Forrest Jones. Fort Bend Travis will feature WR Michael Warren and 3 star recruit DB Chad Moncure. Katy Mayde Creek will be competitive.

Texas City State Qualifying Tournament Pools

Here are the pools, breakdowns and of course my predictions for the Texas City State Qualifying Tournament this weekend.

Pool A: Texas City, Fort Bend Kempner, Montgomery, Pearland

The host Texas City has only gone 1-5 in tournament play this year but they have talent in RB Justin Branch. Fort Bend Kempner has gone 3-1 making the semifinals at Alvin Manvel two weeks ago. They are led by QB Jon Shalala, RB Josh Bell and WR Kenneth Bibbons. Montgomery has gone 1-2 with a win over host Texas City 25-19. Pearland has gone 2-1 and looked very tough at the Texans (Sunday) SQT. They will be led by DB Jeff Phillips and ATH Claudius Smithers.

Mike’s Pick: Pearland

Pool B: Alvin, Channelview, Clear Creek, Katy Morton Ranch

Alvin has a 2-1 record this year including a 41-20 win over pool opponent Clear Creek. Channelview is 3-5 making the semifinals at the Texans (Saturday) SQT. They are led by RB Denzel Granderson, WR Chris Hawkins and DB Dominique Jefferson. Clear Creek is 0-3 in SQT action this year but they have plenty of talent in QB Adam Behrle, WR’s Christopher Collins and Brent Comardelle, ATH Marcus Mata and DB Brandon Speth. Katy Morton Ranch will be an intersting team to watch with DB Floyd Madison and HOuston Sharpstown transfer QB Sam Carter (1759 yrds passing in 2008).

Mike’s Pick: Channelview

Pool C: Houston Chavez, Friendswood, La Porte, Beaumont Ozen

Houston Chavez has already qualified and have a 7-1 record. They won the Texans (Saturday) SQT and look to be a very solid, physical 7-on-7 team. Friendswood is 1-2 in sQT play and they will feature RB/DB Andrew Cole (1150 yards rushing in 2008). La Porte will feature RB Kendrick Perkins (1762 yards rushing in 2008) while Beaumont Ozen will feature RB James White and LB Pierre Harmon.

Mike’s Pick: Friendswood

Pool D: Baytown Lee, Clear Springs, Pearland Dawson, Port Arthur Memorial

Baytown Lee was a surprising 0-3 at the Cy-Falls SQT and they will rely on DB Trey Murray to bring them back. Clear Springs is 2-1 in SQT play incluing a win over pool opponent Pearland Dawson 27-20. They will showcase DB DeChe’ Milburn. Pearland Dawson is 2-4 this year behind QB Darian Lazard, Houston committ RB Xavier Brown RB and DB’s David Farris and Caleb Williams.
Port Arthur Memorial will feature 3 star recruit LB Earl Hines, RB Oristes Hughes and DB Michael Johnson.

Mike’s Pick: Pearland Dawson

Cypress Creek State Qualifying Tournament Pools

Here are the pools, breakdowns and of course my predictions for the Cypress Creek State Qualifying Tournament to be held this weekend.

Pool A: Cypress Ranch, Cypress Creek, Cypress Springs, Cypress Fairbanks

Cypress Creek has gone 4-5 in SQT play this year and has lost in the Semis at Cypress Falls & Texans Sunday. They have good talent in QB Ross Zapalac and RB/WR Brent Mitcham. Cypress Springs has gone 1-2 this year while Cypress Fairbanks has a 4-1 mark. Cy-Fair has already qualified for the state tournament being the runner up at the Cypress Falls SQT. They also have a win over pool opponent Cypress Springs 33-20. They will be led by Rice committ Tevin Champagne. Cypress Ranch will round out the pool and will try to compete with these other Cypress schools.

Mike’s Pick: Cypress Creek (This would make their 3rd consecutive time to win pool play at an SQT this year)

Pool B: Klein, Jersey Village, Cypress Falls, Houston 2nd Baptist

Klein has already qualified as they went an impressive 5-0 winning the Texans Sunday SQT. They have a win over pool opponent Cypress Falls 28-24. They will be led by QB Jamie Peebles. Jersey Village has a 1-1 record this year and will have a good targe in TE Ronell Lavigne. Cypress Falls has gone 3-3 in two SQT’s this year making it to their Semifinal game at Cypress Fall. Houston 2nd Baptist is the other team in the pool. They went 2-2 in a Division II SQT last week at Anahuac.

Mike’s Pick: Cypress Falls

Pool C: Cypress Woods, Houston Stratford, Spring, Langham Creek

Langham Creek has already qualified for the state tournament winning the Cypress Falls SQT. They have gone an impressive 7-1 this year with wins over pool opponents Spring 41-33 and Cypress Woods 41-25. QB Will Bryant will lead them along with Houston committ LB Efrem Oliphant. Cypress Woods has a 2-4 SQT record this year and will be led by WR Jonathan Cross. Houston Stratford has gone 4-2 this year just like Spring has. Spring has a win over pool opponent Cypress Woods 42-28. They are also looking for a little luck. They had to play and lost to the eventual tournament champion in pool play in both SQT’s. (Langham Creek and Klein)

Mike’s Pick: Spring

Pool D: A&M Consolidated, Tomball, Klein Forest, The Woodlands

Tomball has already qualified being the runner up at the Texans Sunday SQT. They have an overall 5-3 record and will be led by All-State WR Jordan Leslie. Leslie is worth the price of admission. A&M Consolidated comes in with a 2-1 record. Klein Forest is 1-2 and will be led by Rice committ LB Cameron Nwosu. The Woodlands went 0-3 last week and look to rebound.

Frisco Liberty State Qualifying Tournament Pools

Here are the pools, breakdowns and of course my predictions for the Frisco Liberty State Qualifying Tournament.

Pool A : Frisco Liberty, Plano East, Richland, Rockwall

Richland was the surprise champion last year. They went 2-1 at Arlington Bowie last week so look for them to be a contender in this pool. Plano East will bring lots of talent. QB Brandon Wesley (1721 yrds passing in 2008), WR’s Brandon Lewis and Denzelle White and Kansas committ DB Dayvyon Henry. Rockwall will have a few good targets in TE Adam Dingwel and WR Will Beasley. Frisco Liberty will try to hang.

Mike’s Pick: Plano East

Pool B: Coppell, Lewisville Hebron, Greenville, Lake Dallas

Coppell has already qualified going 4-0 at the Arlington Bowie SQT last week including a 42-26 win over pool teammate Lewisville Hebron. Hebron had a 2-2 record last week before falling to Coppell in the semifinals. Greenville will be led by RB Dakieston Williams. Lake Dallas may bring the best QB of the tournament in James Franklin (5-4A offensive player of the year 2464 yrds passing in 2008 commmitted to Missouri)

Mike’s Pick: Lake Dallas

Pool C: Wylie, Plano, Richardson Pearce, Dallas Strake Jesuit

Wylie will bring a few good targets from their 2008 Division II Runner-Up team in TE Noah Chesier and WR Colby Harper. Plano last some great talent from last year team but WR Robert Robinson and TE Ashton Williams will make them a very tough team to beat. Richardson Pearce will be led by WR Blake Jumonville while Dallas Strake Jesuit will be relying on DB Reed Brezette.

Mike’s Pick: Plano

Pool D: Arlington Sam Houston, Garland, Plano West, Denton Guyer

Arlington Sam Houston went 0-3 last week and will have a tough time competing with the top teams in this pool. Garland will bring some great talent in LB Tevin Jackson OLB (4 star recruit Committed to Texas), WR Adrian Phillips (4 star recruit Committed to Texas), QB Jared Barnett (1376 yrds passing in only 7 games in 2008), DB’s Darius Bates, Tyre Ivey, Adrian Neal and Malcolm Robinson. Denton Guyer wnet 1-2 last week but they are very talented. Their key players are WR Austin Otto, JR QB J.W. Walsh, OLB/DB Ravion Ingram and DB’s Antonio Burton and Chuks Orabuchi. Plano West will have a tough time in this pool.
