A&M Consolidated State Qualifying Tournament Pools

Here are the teams, pools, key players, stats and of course my predictions for the A&M Consolidated State Qualifying Tournament.

Pool A: A&M Consolidated, Mission Sharyland, Houston Bellaire*, Pasadena Dobie

A&M Consolidated has gone 6-4 this year in SQT play making it to the semifinals at the Austin Lake Travis SQT. They also have a loss to pool opponent Houston Bellaire (19-38). Houston Bellaire has been very active this year going 7-4 in tournament play. They have already qualified being the runner up at the Texans (Saturday) SQT. Pasadena Dobie is traveling out of the Houston area for the 2nd time this year. They have not competed in any Houston SQT's. They went an impressive 3-1 at the Round Rock Westwood SQT making it to the semifinals before losing to Cedar Park. Mission Sharyland is making their first appearance at an SQT and will have a tough time.

Mike's Pick: Pasadena Dobie

Pool B: Austin Anderson, Brenham, Montgomerey, San Antonio Brandeis

Austin Anderson has gone 3-1 in SQT play making it to the semifinals at the Round Rock Westwood SQT. Brenham has been a disappointing 1-5 this year but they may be able to keep up with this pool. Montgomery is 2-4 this year with their only two wins being against Texas City. San Antonio Brandeis will try their hand at SQT play for the first time.

Mike's Pick: Brenham

Pool C: Bryan, Cy Creek, Lufkin, Katy Seven Lakes

Cy Creek is 6-6 this year making it to the semifinals at the Cy Falls and Texans (Sunday) SQT's. Katy Seven Lakes qualified last week at the Katy Cinco Ranch SQT. Lufkin will be bringing some good talent as always. They will be led by WR Quinn Trimble (55-1146 in 2008). Bryan will be making their first showing this year but will have a hard time.

Mike's Pick: Lufkin

Pool D: Tyler Lee, Round Rock, Austin Lake Travis, A&M Consolidated #2

This pool basically comes down to Tyler Lee vs. Round Rock. Austin Lake Travis has already qualified at the Round Rock Westwood SQT and the other team is the A&M Consolidated #2 team. Round Rock has gone 0-6 this year in SQT play. Tyler Lee will be making their first SQT appearance but will bring lots of talent. RB Da Da Brown (1235 rushing yards in 2008) and two TCU commitments, LB Blake Roberts and DB Chris Dinkins will lead the way.

Mike's Pick: Tyler Lee

Semifinals:

Pasadena Dobie vs. Brenham

Lufkin vs. Tyler Lee

Mike's Picks: Pasadena Dobie and Lufkin

Mike's Championship pick: Lufkin
