Austin Lake Travis State Qualifying Tournament

Here are the pools, stats, players to watch and of course my predictions for the Austin Lake Travis state qualifying tournament.

Pool A: Austin Lake Travis, Georgetown, Round Rock Stony Point, DeSoto

The host Austin Lake Travis has already qualified from an impressive showing at the Round Rock Westwood SQT. They are led by JR QB Michael Brewer. Georgetown was 1-2 before last weeks tournament. They will feature WR Adriane Rocha (70-857 yards in 2008). Round Rock Stony Point will feature some good athletes in WR Gerard Shillow WR (46-796 in 2008) and DB's Desmond Martin and Kevin White. DeSoto has a ton of talent. The are led by Texas commit DB Adrian White, another Texas commit WR
Darius Terrell, RB Marcus Murphy, All-State LB Zachary Orr and DB Vincent Eddie.

Mike's Pick: DeSoto

Pool B: Cedar Park, Round Rock, Belton, Dripping Springs

Cedar Park has already qualified being a runner up at the Round Rock Westwood SQT. Round Rock and Belton did not make it ouf of pool play last week at Waco Midway. Round Rock is 0-3 in other SQT play this year. Dripping Springs has also gone 0-3 in SQT play this year.

Mike's Pick: Belton

Pool C: A&M Consolidated, Lampasas, Buda Hays Consolidated, Weslaco

A&M Consolidated has gone 3-3 in 2 Houston area SQT's this year. Lampasas did not make it out of pool play last week at the Waco Midway SQT. Buda Hays Consolidated and Weslaco will both bring competitive teams.

Mike's Pick: A&M Consolidated

Pool D: Houston Bellaire, South San Antonio, Copperas Cove, Brady

Houston Bellaire has already qualified being the runner up at the Texans Saturday SQT. They will try to flex their muscle behind the leadership of QB Adrian Nelson outside of the Houston area. Copperas Cove did not make it out of pool play last weekend but I keep picking them because of the talent they always have. 2A Brady will once again compete with the big boys. They qualified last year and won a trip to state in the Division I bracket.

Mike's Pick: Copperas Cove

Semifinals:

DeSoto vs. Belton
A&M Consolidated vs. Copperas Cove

Mike's Picks: DeSoto and Copperas Cove

Championship Game

Copperas Cove over DeSoto
