3A 430 to 989
2A 200 to 429
1A 199 & below

2008 enrollment #’s
5A – 2085 and above
4A – 980-2084
3A – 430-979
2A – 200-429
1A – 199 and below

Not much difference. The 5A level dropped 20 students which was the 1st time since 1990 that the # went down. 4A's minimum went down 10 students. Class 2A and 1A numbers stayed the same.

Changes : 1A and 2A will be split into Division I and Division II prior to the season

After the announcement, schools can appeal the UIL's decision until Feb. 11. Some schools will request to move up in classification and others will appeal to change districts because of travel concerns. The appeals hearings are heard Feb. 18.
