Coaching Changes — Nacogdoches

Nacogdoches has found a replacement for Bill Harper who retired after 5 years with the Dragons. Scott Ford who coached at Los Fresnos for the past 7 seasons will be taking over.

Harper who came out of retirement to coach at Nacogdoches in 2005 led them to a 26-25 record over the last 5 seasons. His first retirement came after being the head coach at Marshall from 1991-2001. His record with the Mavericks was 70-46-2. His overall career record ends at 96-71-2.

Ford had a record of 65-19 at Los Fresnos. He also spent 1 season at Joshua where he went 4-6 to bring his career record to 69-25-0. His teams had three undefeated seasons while at Los Fresnos and went three rounds deep in the playoffs three straight times from 2006 to 2008. Ford took Los Fresnos to the playoffs in six of his seven seasons and went 7-4 this past season. This was his 2nd time to be the head coach at Los Fresnos. He went 11-1 his first year as head coach in 2002 before taking the job at Joshua where he left after a 4-6 season. He has also been an assistant coach at Cleburne, Killeen Ellison and Leander.

The Dragons finished with a 3-7 record in 2009 and went 0-5 in district play. There last playoff appearance was in 2006 and thier last playoff win was in 1992. The most wins that they have had in a season over the last 17 years is only 6. Their new district will not make things any easier. District 14-4A will consist of Tyler John Tyler, Marshall, Longview Pine Tree, Hallsville, Jacksonville, Whitehouse and Kilgore.
