Coaching Changes — Gonzales

Gonzales has named Ricky Lock as their new athletic director and head coach. Lock will replace Kris Micheaux who resigned at the end of the season.

Micheaux finished 4-16 during his two seasons with the Apaches inlcuding 1-9 (0-5 in district play) last season.

Coach Lock is returning to Gonzales after a two year stint at Gainesville. He was the athletic director and head coach at Gonzales in 2007 where he led the them to a 10-3 record and an appearance in the Class 3A Division I quarterfinals. Lock left to become the athletic director and head coach at Gainesville where he had a 7-13 overall record. He has an overall head coaching record of 87-60.

The Apaches will remain in District 28-3A for the next two years. Other schools in the district are Cuero, La Vernia, Pleasanton, Poteet, San Antonio Houston and Yoakum.

Locks son Landon, was a second team all state linebacker and the District 9-3A Newcomer of the Year least seasons as a sophomore.
