Coaching Changes — Rio Grande City La Grulla

The Rio Grande City La Grulla Gators have named Rio Grande City offensive coordinator Abel Gonzalez as their first campus Athletic Coordinator and Head Football Coach.

Gonzalez, the former Texas A&M-Kingsville quarterback was most recently the offensive coordinator at Rio Grande City from 2006-2009. Before that, he was the quarterbacks and running backs coach at PSJA Memorial in 2004 and 2005.

The new school will play on the varsity level this upcoming season on the Class 3A level. Rio Grande City La Grulla will be part of District 32-3A along with La Feria, Port Isabel, Progreso, Rio Hondo and Zapata.
