7 on 7 — Texans Division I SQT Pools and Picks (Sun)

Houston Chavez will be the host of the Houston Texans 7-on-7 SQT this Sunday May 23rd. This event will be held at the Methodist Training Center and as always it will be a well run event. If you have not been to this SQT this is one of the best, the Chavez coaches come out and do a great job. Also, just like in the past, this SQT will not be lacking in quality teams. Here are the pools, players to watch and of course out predictions.

Pool A : Langham Creek Montgomery Spring The Woodlands

Langham Creek, Spring and The Woodlands all made the state tournament last season. Montgomery went 2-4 in SQT play last season but will bring lots of talent like QB Tyler Bolfing, RB Leroy Dobbins (2629 yards 24 TDS rushing), WR Mitchell Buick and WR Arrius Holleman. The Woodlands will be led by QB Joseph Schneider and superstar RB Daniel Lasco (1520 yards 17 TDs). Spring and Langham Creek always bring the talent and will be competitive in every game.

Pool B : San Antonio Alamo Heights Houston Westside Lewisville Pearland

San Antonio Alamo Heights lost in last years Texans semifinals. They will be led by QB Steven Elder. Pearland made the state tournament last year and will bring a talented team led by QB Trey Anderson (1755 yards 14 TDs passing) and WR Myles Kanipes. Houston Westside went 2-4 in SQT play last year and will highlight WR Jamarcus Williams. Lewisville will be making the long trip led by legendary coach Dick Olin. Olin is from Baytown Lee and is one of the founders of state 7-on-7.

Pool C : Cypress Creek Port Arthur Memorial Klein Collins Tomball

Klein Collins and Tomball both made the state tournament last season. Tomball who was led by star WR Jordan Leslie qualified at last years Texans tournament. Collins will bring several stars in DB Charles Jackson and LB David Santos while Tomball will have to find a way without Leslie. Port Arthur Memorial went 1-2 in SQT play last season and will feature WR K'Sean Wesley (20-323 4 TDs Rec.). Cypress Creek lost in 2 semifinals last season including Texans Sunday SQT. This season they will bring a good group of players like QB Chuckie Keeton (1096 yards 14 TDs rushing 1366 yards 10 TDs passing), RB Jermichael Selders (1533 yards 23 TDs rushing) and RB Cameron Gary.

Pool D : Houston Stratford Fort Bend Travis Pasadena Memorial Katy Seven Lakes

Houston Stratford and Katy Seven Lakes both made the state tournament last season. Stratford will be lead by DB Matt Sherrard while Seven Lakes will bring TE Reggie Sigers, DB Lathan Smith and DB Blake Poncio. Pasadena Memorial will be led by FB Daniel Talavera and WR Nathan Mourik (51-875 13 TDs 3 INTs). Fort Bend Travis will be very competitive with QB Conner Smith and DB Ricardo Riascos.
