Old Head Coach: Robert Hernandez — Leaving to be the offensive coordinator at Iraan. He coached the Lions for only one seasons leading them to a 4-6 record.
New Head Coach: Ray Brown — Was the offensive coordinator at Pflugerville Hendrickson. He has also been an assistant coach at Reagan County, Monahans and Big Spring.

Old Head Coach: Scott Ponder — Leaving to become the athletic director and head coach at Iowa Park. Coached the Raiders for seven seasons leading them to a 57-30 overall record. His teams also made it to the quarterfinals three times. He ranks #2 in all-time coaching wins in Wichita Falls Rider history.
New Head Coach: Jim Garfield — Was the teams defensive coordinator. He was an assistant at Rider until 2000 where he left to be the head coach at Corpus Christi Flour Bluff. He went 3-7 during 2001 and he then returned back to be a coach at Rider.
Team News: 2009 ended a 6 year winning streak all 7+ win seasons. The Raiders have gone to regional finals in three of the past six seasons. They are 3-3 overall since 2004 vs. Stephenville including 3-1 in playoffs 0-2 in regular season. Their all time record is 285-219-18 56.32% 522 games.

Katy Cinco Ranch will be the host of this SQT. Here are the pools, players to watch and of course our predictions. Jay Darneal who has coached a 7-on-7 team 7 consecutive years to the state tournament, been a coach, officiated, written, broadcasted, and played football will pick with us!!
Pool A: Katy Cinco Ranch, Houston Strake Jesuit, Rosenberg Terry, Houston Chavez
Houston Chavez has already qualified for the state tournament. Katy Cinco Ranch is the host and has gone 8-7 in SQT play including 2 wins over pool member Strake Jesuit. They made it to the semifinals last week at Fort Bend Dulles but fell to Fort Bend Bush. They will feature superstar RB K.C. Nlemchi 2388 yards 28 TDs rushing 315 yards 4 TDs receiving commmitted to SMU and WR Bobby Waid. Houston Strake Jesuit has gone 0-9 in SQT play this year and will rely on LB Will Huskinson and DB Evan Fichter to get them a win. Rosenberg Terry has gone 4-2 in SQT play this year including a 33-20 win over Katy Cinco Ranch.

Tomball has a 2-4 SQT record this year including a 25-33 loss to Cypress Creek. Houston Bellaire has gone 4-7 in SQT play. They lost in the semifinals of the Fort Bend Dulles SQT to Houston Worthing on a last minute score.

Beaumont West Brook has already qualified for the state tournament. Stratford defeated Seven Lakes in the final at Cinco last year. Houston Stratford is 7-4 in SQT play this year making it to the Texans Sunday SQT. They also have a 13-7 victory over Katy Seven Lakes. They will be led by DB Matt Sherrard. Katy Seven Lakes has gone 0-3 in their only SQT this year and will feature TE Reggie Sigers, DB Lathan Smith and DB Blake Poncio. Langham Creek is usually a strong 7-on-7 team but they have gone 2-6 in sQT play this year but they did make it to the semifinals at the Cypress Creek SQT.

Fort Bend Dulles has a 4-2 SQT record this year and will bring a talented team led by QB Zach Lathrop 1347 yards 9 TDs, RB Jarrell Oliver 1049 yards 12 TDs rushing, WR London Muse 19-269 2 TDs receiving, WR Sheridan Taylor, DB Sheroid Evans Texas Commitment and DB Zoey Williams. Fort Bend Hightower has gone 2-4 in SQT play and will showcase RB John Parrham 482 yards 4 TDs rushing, WR Clyde Lee and WR Ed’Marques Batties.

Notes: Pool E is a pool for state qualified teams only. None of these teams will advance. They will all get a chance to face tough competition and not use a spot for a team trying to get to state. A big Lone Star salute goes out to Abilene for coming up with this idea.

Abilene Cooper has gone 2-2 in SQT play losing in the semifinals at the Round Rock Westwood SQT. They will feature RB Alford Cooper 818 rushing 277 receiving 12 total TDs and RB Davon Riddick 868 yards 15 TDS rushing 200 yards 2 TDs receiving. North Crowley has gone 3-3 in SQT play losing in the semifinals at the Red Raider SQT. They will feature DB Michael Price. Midlothian will bring a lot of talent in QB Dillon Fairbanks 2382 yards, WR Derek Agbaroji and DB Eric Agbaroji 40 tackles 1 INT 13 BR 4 Star. They are currently 4-5 in 3 touraments this year. Burleson will be playing in their first SQT of the year.
