Abilene @ Euless Trinity
This is the battle of the 2009 5A Champions. Abilene won the Division II Championship while Euless Trinity won the Division I Championship. Last week Abilene rolled El Paso Hanks 77-13 getting 5 touchdowns from Paxton Grayer that including an 80 yard kickoff return. Euless Trinity intercepted two passes and turned them into points to beat a tough Tyler Lee team 30-7.
These two teams played in 1998 and 1999 splitting the two games.
1998 Euless Trinity 49, Abilene 24
1999 Abilene 17, Euless Trinity 14
Mike Says: You see the 77 points that were put up by the Eagles last week and you say there is no way they can lose this week. The problem is that the Trojans are a much better defensive team than El Paso Hanks. The Trojan defenders LB Brian Nance, LB Jonathan Yenga, DL Polo Manukainu and DB Ilaiu Moeakiola. will bottle up RB Grayer and the rest of the Eagles. TROJANS win 38-17!!
Chris Says: If EA Sports made a high school football game, this is a matchup that people all over would have been playing at the end of last season. How cool is it that we get to do it in real life? As much as I like Abilene's team this year and as much as I like what their season will ultimately end up, you just cannot discount the Trojans - EVER. Folks around the country are still wondering how Pearland managed to take care of Euless Trinity last season but you bet that Steve Lineweaver has used that to make this amazing program even tougher. Euless Trinity takes it 35-24!!
