(Week 2: 2011) 4A Austin Lake Travis Cavaliers (2-0) @ 4A Aledo Bearcats (1-1)

Austin Lake Travis @ Aledo

Just like last season, this is the rematch of the two Class 4A Champions. Just like last season, this is the matchup of pre-season #1 vs. #2. The Bearcats won last years meeting 14-10 but a lot of people will point to the fact that the Cavaliers did not have their starting quarterback. They might not again with the injury to Collin Lagasse.

Austin Lake Travis Cavaliers 2011 Schedule
08/27/11 Austin Westlake W 35-7
09/02/11 Pflugerville Hendrickson W 43-14

Aledo Bearcats 2011 Schedule
08/26/11 @ Stephenville L 47-48
09/02/11 @ Weatherford W 50-7

Mike Says: Cavalier QB Baker Mayfield has stepped in nicely for the injured Colin Lagasse completing 71% of his passes and a 6-0 TD to INT ratio. His favorite target is WR Zach Austin (12-219 3 TDs). On the defense, LB Corbin Crow (26 tackles 4 sacks), DB Zach Streuling (22 tackles) and DB Jacob Standard (6 PD's) do a great job. The Bearcats are of course led by superstar RB Jonathan Gray who only needs 3 more touchdowns to break the all-time record. Their head coach Tim Buchanan is in 101st place on the all-time coaching wins list. His all-time record is currently 188-50-3. The Cavaliers are on an 8 game winning streak. The Bearcats just had their 29 game winning streak snapped in week 0. The Bearcats are at home, they are the Pre-Season #1 team. The BEARCATS win 17-14!!!

Chris Says: Same story, different verse.  This is one you can't get right.  Aledo won it last year in Lake Travis, but the Cavs did not have their starting QB.  This year it is in Aledo and the Cavs do not have their starting QB.  Add that to the fact that Jonathan Gray is playing "lights out crazy," and you have to stick with Aledo.  Once again, it is foolish to pick against Austin Lake Travis, but even more foolish to pick against Gray, and Aledo at home.  Bearcats win 24-17!!
