2012 LSG Texas High School Football Team Preview — San Antonio The Winston Eagles

Team: San Antonio The Winston Eagles (6-Man Division 1 District 4, TAPPS)

Stadium: Winston Field (Capacity: 200)

Coach: Mark Hambrick

Coaches Comments:
I believe the team will be more solid on defense this year. The defense has worked hard in the off season to improve speed and strength. The challenges this year will be on offense replacing our all time leading rusher LaJordan Wilkerson. We as a coaching staff feel like Peterson will be able to step up to the challenge at running back. District Outook: Division 1 District 4 is one of the toughest TAPPS Six- Man District. We are hoping to stay healthy and make the Playoffs and go as far as we can.

Returning Lettermen: 7

Returning Starters: Offense: 6 Defense: 5

Key Players:
* Sr. running back Saion Peterson will have a major impact on offense. This young man has great running power and the ability to catch the ball out of the back field. 87 tackles
* Sr. Andrew Gray will be a powerful force at fullback/LB, he is 6'2, 225 and runs a 4.8 forty.
* Jr. Reagan Gray will be taking over the Quarterback position, he has a great arm with a quick release, and he is able to run well in the open field.
* Sr. Tight End Avery Smith 6'7 225 pound, this young man has great hands and blocks well on the line.
* Jr. Linebacker Jack Spalten will be a second year starter on defense 70 tackles
* Sr. Center Josh Overton 6'1 265 pounds.

Notes:

Mike Says: The Eagles look to improve upon their 1-4 district record. This will be tough with schools like Bulverde Bracken and Boerne Geneva leading the way.

Chris Says: The Eagles bring back quite a bit of experience but it is into a very tough district. Playoffs don't look very likely this season but they should improve on last year's record.
