2012 LSG Texas High School Football Team Preview — Tarkington Longhorns

Enrollment: 585.5 -- 2nd largest in the district out of 7 schools

Coaches Comments: This season will be a growth spurt year. The Horns have some key players who gained valuable varsity experience last year and a good group of newcomers who were successful at the sub-varsity level. Melding those players together should result in better play on the field this fall. Pre-Season District predictions: 1) Coldspring-Oakhurst 2) Huffman 3) Cleveland 4) Liberty 5) Tarkington 6) Splendora 7) Shepherd Liberty may challenge Huffman and Cleveland for a playoff spot.

Key Players:

Laramie Nash/RB-DB/Jr.-Last year's leading rusher and scorer, should be a key offensive weapon both rushing and receiving this year
Colton LaFrance/OL-LB/Sr.-One of the top performers on the offensive and defensive lines last year. The unquestioned team leader will anchor this year's offensive line
Steven Soles/TE-LB/Sr.-Transitioned this spring from outside linebacker to middle linebacker, will be counted on to lead this year's defense 41 tackles

Mike Says: The Longhorns are trying to climb up out of Class 3A's cellar. They have had a rough go at it for a while and they may continue this year. Expect them to go 1-9 or 2-8 this year.

Chris Says: Tarkington as no place to go but up. If Nash can continue to run well behind the likes of Colton LaFrance, the Longhorns should win a few games this season.
