2012 LSG Texas High School Football Team Preview — Waskom Wildcats

Team: Waskom Wildcats (9-2A Division II)

Stadium: Wildcat Stadium (Capacity: 1590)

Enrollment: 234 -- 7th largest in the district out of 8 schools

Coach: Whitney Keeling (2 years) 8-12 record at Waskom; 8-12 All-Time Coaching Record

Coaches Comments: Hopefully we will compete for a playoff spot...Tough District. District Outlook: Hughes Springs, Elysian Fields, Paul Pewitt, New Diana, Waskom, Ore City, Linden, Kildaire, Dekalb

Mike Says: The Wildcats started off the season fast last year going 5-0 but when they got to district play they went 0-5. This year will be just as tough with Omaha Paul Pewitt joining an already tough district that includes Hughes Springs and Elysian Fields. Expect the Wildcats to go 3-7 or 4-6 in the regular season. They would need to be more around the 6-4 or 7-3 range to get into the playoffs.

Chris Says: Waskom hasn't been to the postseason since 1992 and their district shapes up to deny them once again. If JuneBug Johnson can make an impact again this season and Coach Keeling can lead the team to believe in themselves, the playoffs are not out of reach. The old saying is a perfect fit - if they always do what they've always done, they'll aways get what they've always got.
