  • Mike Says: The Eagles fell in the Area round last year to a tough Dallas Skyline team. Their only 2 losses of the season came against times that had a combined 25-3 record. The Eagles always play a tough pre-district schedule and this year that will not change. They face Arlington Martin opening weekend and then take on Euless Trinity a few weeks after that. The Eagle offense will be as explosive as always this year behind QB White and RB Wilson. The defense has only 2 returning starters but they are LB Young and DB Orr so they will be good. Cedar Hill and Mansfield will give them competition for the district title. Look for them to go 8-2 or 9-1 in the regular season and then compete for the Region I championship with Southlake Carroll, Euless Trinity and Arlington Martin.
  • Chris Says: DeSoto has turned into a football powerhouse the last few years - ever since record setting former Barlett high school and Texas State University running back Claude Mathis took over.  During the offseason, all the buzz was about him leaving the team for the University of Houston.  Just a short time after than announcement, Mathis was back at DeSoto.   The offseason drama may have overshadowed the Eagles for a while, but in a few short week, it will be about their play on the field once again.  They have the returning players on the offense to once again put up some serious points.  Their defense only returns two players, but they are some good ones.  They could run the table in the regular season but will be hard pressed to make it past Region come postseason.
