Mike Says: The Buckeyes will have lots of talent even with only 9 total starters coming back. They have a great tradition having won 10+ in all but 1 season since 2003. Their defense will be very good the year especially in the secondary with Tanner Barr and Trey Washington . They are in the toughest district in the state. Expect them to be featured in a lot of our Games Of The week. Look for them to go 8-2 or 9-1 in the regular season and have a great shot at winning the district title. It will be a dog fight each week against Tyler Chapel Hill, Henderson and Kilgore. Argyle who knocked them out of the playoffs last year will provide the top competition in the region.

Chris Says: Gilmer is one of those storied programs that represents what Texas high school football really means. This East Texas power always plays tougher than nails and behind Coach Jeff Traylor has been a consistent winner. The are in what many in the state call the toughest district in football - District 16-3A. There are so many great teams fighting for the championship that every single game is like a prize fight that goes the distance. The Buckeyes add to that, a very tough pre-district schedule and when playoffs come around are sure to go far.
