Coach: Ken Stanley (1 year) 5-5 at Hemphill; 5-5 all-time coaching record

Coaches Comments: As we enter my second season in Hemphill, we will be able to execute more efficiently with the offensive and defensive concepts due to experience in my system. Though a tough schedule lies ahead, we fully expect to compete for a District Championship, and a bid to the Texas State Playoffs.

Returning Lettermen: 12

Returning Starters: Offense: 6 Defense: 7

Key Players:
* QB JR Justin Twine 3,443 total yards, 53 TD's TOP JR
* WR/DB Luke Byley
* OL/DL Dillon LeBlanc
* OL/LB Ryan Bagget
* TE/DE Marcus Bell
* OL Tanner Guidry
* LB SOPH Rudy Weaver

Notes:
* Came back from on 0-10 2010 season to improve to 5-5 last year
* They missed out on the playoffs when they lost to New Waverly 54-56 in double overtime in district play

  • Mike Says: The Hornets scored 51 points per game last year but they gave up 50 per game. Returning quarterback Justin Twine who ran for 534 yards in one game against Pineland West Sabine last year will keep the Hornets in every game and make sure that they are all high scoring. Look for them to go 7-3 or 6-4 in the regular season and battle New Waverly for 2nd place in the district behind Corrigan-Camden.
  • Chris Says: Coach Ken Stanley's Hemphill Hornets had  a big turnaround with their 5 win season last year.  Expect the improvement to continue.  The Hornets bring back a solid core of veterans on both sides of the ball and you can't mention those starters without bringing up Justin Twine.  Nearly 3,500 total yards and 53 TDS is amazing in anybody's book.  Expect Twine to shine behind the three returning offensive linemen and Hemphill to compete for  the district title.   The Hornets will be in the playoffs and they will be a wildcard because none of the kids they will play against has ever seen them in the playoffs.  It will be fun to watch!
