  • Mike Says: The Mules return 38 lettermen but only 9 starters from last years playoff team. This years team will rely on their defense again. They only gave up an average of 17 1/2 points per game last year. They feature a great linebacking core led by Nick Urestky. Offensive lineman Daniel McCarty will be a key player for the offense. Look for them to go 6-4 or 7-3 in the regular season. They should make the playoffs and it will be fun to see who wins out of Boerne Champion, Buda Hays Consolidated, Kerrville Tivy and the Mules for the the district championship.
  • Chris Says: San Antonio Alamo Heights is one of those teams that is synonymous with winning.  Ever since they won state in 2006, even people outside of Central Texas have paid attention to the Mules.  Once again, the bring back a lot of experience, but not in some key areas.  They take the field without coach Don Bryd and without many of their starters from last year.  New Head Coach, Mike Norment gets his first start as a head coach, but he is not a noob.  Mike has been leading the offensive attack for the Mules as OC for the past 16 years.  The team knows him.  He knows the system.  They will be fine at the Head Coach position.   With only three returning starters on offense, they will rely on big Daniel McCarty to not only make some holes, but help bring the new teammates up to speed.  Expect the Mules to fight it out in district and once again, be ready to go a few rounds deep in the playoffs.
