* Went 10-5 last year after going 13-8 in 2009 & 2010

  • Mike Says: The Mavericks started off slow last year beginning the season at 1-3. They turned things around though and finished the rest of the season 9-2 making it all the way to the Semifinals. They now have not had a losing season since coach Streety arrived 21 years ago. They should have no problem achieving that goal this year with a great rushing attack and a solid defense. The offense brings back 3,389 yards rushing with RB's Marquis Warford and Galen McAllister. The defense will be led by all-state DL Vincent Taylor. The Mavericks always play a tough pre-district schedule and this year will be no different. They start the season against state runner-up Cibolo Steele. Look for them to go 8-2 or 9-1 in the regular season and be a player in the playoffs. They will be a Division I team with their main competition coming from Converse Judson. Last year they lost to Judson 48-7 in pre-district but turned around and beat the Rockets 25-24 in Bi-District.
  • Chris Says: San Antonio Madison brings back a ton of lettermen, but not many starters.  Last season's run to the Semifinals though was experienced by all of them and that will serve them well.  District 26-5 is a tough row to hoe any year   Running backs, Marquis Warford and Galen McAllister will be relied upon heavily again this year and the Mavericks should be a strong playoff team once again.
