Notes:
* Are moving down to Class 1A for the first time since 1979 this year
* Only 6 starters returning

  • Mike Says: The Armadillos are set to have a great season this year. They return 16 letterman but only 6 starters from a 2A Area playoff team. This year they drop to 1A . Led by their defense, they will compete with rival Goldthwaite for the district title. Look for them to go 7-3 or 6-4 in the regular season and then go 2 or 3 rounds in the playoffs.
  • Chris Says: San Saba has a long tradition and look to improve upon it this season.  They don't return a lot of starters, but when one of them is a two-way beast like Russell Lowe, who not only runs the ball but tallied 148 tackles on defense, they are set to do some damage to opponents.  Expect them to do even better with the drop down to Class 1A and make a deeper run into the playoffs than last season at Class 2A.

    Isn’t Micheal McKinnerney a returning starter?? Kelan didn’t start last year.

      McKinnerney is listed as a OL/DL

      That wasn’t a list of returning starters – that was a list of “key players” as discussed with people close to the team. Sorry if that wasn’t clear.

    Sorry, but you really need to double check your facts before you produce an article.

      I have been doing the statistics for the Armadillos since 1987. The only thing I have different from your preview is I have varsity games going back to 1915 from the local newspaper and a reference to a game in 1910. Am not sure when UIL started keeping track of games so will not belabor that point. Good job otherwise.
