* Improved to 10-4 last year after going 19-12 the previous 3 seasons

  • Mike Says: The Mustangs had a strong season last year making it all the way to the Quarterfinals before falling to in-town rival Spring DeKaney. They had defeated DeKaney during the last week of district play. The Mustangs record would have been more impressive if they did not get upset by 2-8 Tomball and 4-6 Spring. This season, they will rely on the defense where their defensive front will be very good led by Walker. This district is really tough. Look for them to go 6-4 or 7-3 in the regular season and come in 3rd or 4th in the district.
  • Chris Says: Spring Westfield is a team with a strong tradition that has given Houston area teams fits for years.  Last year it was Spring DeKaney that caught them (and most of the state) unprepared in their title run.  Spring Westfield brings back a large group of veterans, but very few starters from last year.  The Mustangs will struggle in District 13-5A as they battle some of the areas best teams.  No district title for them and while they should make the playoffs, it won't be an easy battle.  Expect the difference makers to be the play of their defensive line.
