LSG All-Time Games Of The Week Record (3-1 in 2011)

2012 Games:
W 35-21 AT SPRING

This is the first time that these two teams have every played each other.

  • Mike Says: This will be Manvel's first big time challenge in Class 5A. The Mustangs are always a top team in the Houston area and this year is no different...just ask Clear Springs. They have stars like QB Micah Thomas, LB Zach Whitley and DB Earnest Thomas. The Mavericks won their first 5A game last week @ Spring and they are led by QB Shane McCarley, WR Austin Bennett and WR Kyrion Parker. Its going to be a good one but I do not think North Shore even with that good secondary can contain the Manvel passing game. The MAVERICKS win 32-27!!
  • Chris Says: Manvel was a blast to watch last season and this looks to be just as much fun.  North Shore however, is a team that is just not getting the respect they have in the past.  While it would be a great story for Manvel to come in and roll through Class 5A (like Austin Lake Travis appears poised to do) it just isn't going to be that easy.  This game will be a great test to see if the Mavericks are good enough to compete with the big boys.  ln the end though, McCarley is that good and will be the difference maker.  MAVERICKS take the victory 31-28!!

Are you a fan of either team? Call the voicemail line and leave a message about the game (713) 568-6361. Tell everyone at your school to do the same – then listen in future Lone Star Gridiron Shows to hear them all!!!

At the end of the night Manvel just did not have enough horses to compete with the Big Boys. We started leaning on them and they just got tired. Triston Houston rushed for a 100 yards in the 3rd quarter alone. The defense made their adjustments at the half and put some pressure on the QB that you guys love so much, them beat them up the rest on the night. Mr. Whitley decided he had enough and started hitting for real. If we keep getting turnovers at this rate we will have a State run for sure. Only at the SHO. See you friday night.

North Shore has too much depth for Manvel. They were good until we started leaning on them in the second half. Our tackles are monsters. They drive block for about ten to fifteen yards at a time. Then the D got nasty and came out of that zone and put some pressure on that QB. Game over
