Lone Star Gridiron

Monterrey Tech (1-0) @ Dallas Highland Park Scots (0-1)

Texas high school football game of the week

Monterrey Tech at Dallas Highland Park

Monterrey Tech (1-0)

This is Monterrey Tech's first time to be featured in a LSG Game of the Week.  This first time for any team from another country as well.

2012 Games:
W 27-17 @ Stephenville

Dallas Highland Park Scots (0-1)

LSG All-Time Games Of The Week Record (1-1 all-time) (1-0 in 2011) (0-1 in 2012)

2012 Games:
L 12-31 vs. Aledo

The Scots have defeated Monterrey Tech in 2010 and 2011 by a combined score of 102-37.

  • Mike Says: Last week Monterrey Tech stunned everyone when they upset Stephenville. The Scots were shut out in the 2nd half in their LSG Game Of The Week vs. Aledo and came away with a loss. Two questions will be answered this week. Can Monterrey Tech beat another Texas Power? Last weeks victory was the first time a Mexican team has beaten a Texas school. Can Highland Park snap back and get back to their winning ways? Dallas Highland Park will return to their winning ways. The SCOTS win 35-21!!
  • Chris Says: You have to hand it to Monterrey Tech for not only taking road trips every year from Mexico to Texas to play American football. But, they haven't been afraid to stand up to the best programs in the state. Finally, they did it last week when they got a victory against one of those strong programs - Stephenville. Dallas Highland Park was defeated by Aledo and will not be eager to be the next program defeated by the Borregos. While I do not expect we have heard the last of Monterrey Tech, I think their moment in the sun is over for this year. Dallas Highland Park will not look past them. The SCOTS win 31-17!!!

Are you a fan of either team? Call the voicemail line and leave a message about the game (713) 568-6361. Tell everyone at your school to do the same – then listen in future Lone Star Gridiron Shows to hear them all!!!

relevance – the word is relEvance. Okay, seacur – I have a challenge for you.

1 – use a real name… anyone can troll behind a fake name and point out the misses
2 – show us what you’ve got – we will send you a list of every one of the games of the week and you can make your picks too.

We will proudly list them right beside ours. Beat us and you will be hailed as a true pigkin prognosticator… get them wrong… and you know what? We won’t even give you a hard time.

    You up for it?

      1. Not hiding. Can’t use a real name because I’m not in the biz like you. Otherwise too much spam will appear.
      2. I’ve got nothing and don’t profess to. And admit I might miss 9 out of 10. Was a sideways dig at you guys for choosing Dallas’ lovefest (re-read your reasoning) High School against the reigning 3 time state champion. I think it was an honest dig, nothing more. Hard to break media lovefests. Thanks for not giving me a hard time, though. Aledo ’70.

Thanks for the response. Give us some audio feedback on Aledo this season. Call the voicemail line 713-568-6361 before or after any game and feel free to let us know what you think.

Tell your fellow Bearcats to call in and leave comments too – a Fan Championship awaits! 🙂

Don’t forget to sign up for the Brotherhood of Texas High School Football as well!

Thanks again for the feedback… that is actually why we do it. Good-natured digs included!
