WEEK TWO:

West Texas:
Amarillo Caprock went 3-0, beating Luibbock Estacado 43-33, with WR Addison Bustos hauling in 13 passes for a whopping 392 yards . Permian smashed crosstown rival Odessa High 45-6. Collin Bowen had a big night in Canyon Randall’s 34-14 win over Monahans. Bowen rushed for 128 yards and passed for 168, accounting for three touchdowns. Shallowater’s Junior RB Jarek Black, won last weeks Ford Player of the Week award, and followed up with a 401 yard rushing night and four touchdowns in a 49-21 win over Greenwood. Munday’s Dee Paul (SMU commit) accounted for five touchdowns in a 55-28 win over Albany, while fellow 1A star Hagen Hutchinson also totaled five TD’s in a 36-0 shutout of Merkel. Abilene went to 3-0 with an impressive 49-7 win over Tascosa. QB Evin Abbe completed 15/20 passes for 252 and two touchdowns. D’Maujeric Tucker rushed for 255 yards and 3 TD’s in a 27-10 Frenship win over El Paso Eldorado.

Central Texas:
Lake Travis’ potent combination of QB Baker Mayfield and junior RB Shaun Nixon hooked up for touchdown passes on the first play of the game and on their last play of the game in a comeback 28-24 win over Westwood. A&M Consolidated surprised Westlake 35-17, scoring three touchdowns in the fourth quarter.. Leander, ranked #2 in Class 4A, smothered Manor 28-7 with Texas Tech commit Caleb Woodward rushing for 307 yards on 45 attempts. Woodward rushed for three scores and threw for another. Hays QB Caleb Kimbro had two long touchdown runs in the first half before leaving with a shoulder injury, but the Rebels held on to be Leander Rouse 14-10. Hendrickson bat Vandergrift 36-21 as Samaje Perrine and Breylin Davis combined for 356 rushing yards. Dripping Springs beat Wimberley 28-13 as Kyle Johnson passed for 220 yards

In San Antonio Jarveon Williams rushed for 302 yards and five touchdowns as Judson beat Churchill 45-24. Cibolo Steele’s team rushed for 283 yards in a 56-17 win over Kerrville Tivy. Marquis Warford rushed for 164 yards and four td’s as Madison beat New Braunfels 51-21. Lawrence Mattison rushed for 164 yards and three scores as Smithson Valley beat El Paso Montwood 51-29. Cory Williams rushed for 255 yards and 3 scores as Pt. Lavaca-Calhoun rolled over Somerset 49-6. In Private school action, Antonion beat Boerne 37-30 with Sterling Holmes rushing 39 times for 402 yards and scoring four times.

Houston:
North Shore spanked Cinco Ranch 62-21, rolling up 316 yards on the ground. Kevin Deleon touched the ball three times for the Mustangs and scored on all three. Katy smashed the Woodlands 63-10 with LSU commit Adam Taylor rushing for 183 yards and five touchdowns. Morton Ranch went to 3-0 with a 28-0 shutout of Hastings. Deion Williams and E.J. Achelus combined for 269 yards rushing and three td’s. Cy Fair jumped out toa 24-0 second quarter lead and coasted past Jersey Village 37-16. Cy Creek edged Cy Ranch 45-42 with QB Cole Barbe completing 21/31 for 290 yards and four touchdowns. Westfield beat Klein Collins 40-19 with Emmett Raleigh rushing for 162 yards. Coldspring-Oakhurst knocked off 3A’s #1 team LaMarque 27-21 in overtime. Alfred Scotts third touchdown run was the difference, despite a 164 yard yard night from LM QB Denum Mercer. Friendswood edged Rosenberg Terry in a wild 47-45 shootout. Terry jr RB Kishawn McClain rushed for 238 yards and 3 tds, while Friendswood QB Jordan Wood rushed for 204 yards and five touchdowns. South Houston beat Dickinson 52-49. SoHO QB James Davis threw for 442 yards and three TDs, while Dickinson RB Krystn Hammon rushed for 459 yards and five TD’s. Cy Falls beat Cy Springs 56-14. QB Cameron Henkhaus threw for 372 yards and 5 scores with Texas commit Jacorey Warrick hauling in three of those paydirt tosses in a 197 yard night. In a wild ground-oriented game Kingwood edged Klein Oak 45-44. Kade Harrington of Kingwood rushed for 346 yards and three scores, while Klein Oak junior, Larenzo Stewart rushed for 232 and three scores himself.

DFW:
In a HUGE upset, Arlington Bowie raced to a 38-16 lead after three quarters, then held off a furious Skyline rally to hold on 38-36. Sophomore Tony James started his first game at QB for Bowie and combined for 287 yards and five touchdowns. Lancaster showed that their upset win over former #1 John Tyler was no fluke, shutting down Kimball 28-6. The Tiger defense held Kimball star Terryion Gipson to just 75 yards. In another defensive effort, Waxahachie shutout West Mesquite 42-0, after West Mesquite had come into the game averaging over 38 points per game. Desoto crushed Euless Trinity 42-21 in the headline game of the Lone Star Classic at Kincaide Stadium. Dontre Wilson scored four touchdowns and Desmon White accounted for three. Cedar Hill lost 40-21 to Booker T. Washington from Miami, Fla 40-21 and faces Desoto this week. Garland Sachse beat Grapevine 69-49 with Junior QB kent Myers throwing for 434 yards and six touchdowns and rushing for 117 yards and three more TD’s. Dezmond Wortham rushed for 172 yard and two scores as Hebron beat Fossil Ridge 34-7. Keaun Kinner rushed for 275 yards and three touchdowns as Little Elm beat RL Turner41-23. Frisco Wakeland beat Pearce 52-34 with QB Jackson Lamb throwing for 448 yards and 4 touchdowns. Anna’s Malik Berry rushed for 292 yards and 6 tds in a 41-28 win over Van Alstyne.

On the Ft. Worth side, Western Hill’s Aaron Stevenson rushed 41 times for 264 yards and two scores in a losing effort 41-33 against Denton. Crowley’s Larry Cheeks rushed 22 times for 174 and 1 TD in a 28-24 win over Red Oak. Kenny Hill (A&M commit)rushed for 237 yards and passed for 132 as Southlake shutout Temple 34-0. Kennedale beat Wilmer Hutchins 66-52 with Juwan Washington rushing for 258 yards and four touchdowns. . Kjana Amous rushed for 243 and two scores and caught a TD pass as Mansfield Legacy beat Bryan Adams 35-20.

East Texas:
IN a couple of long time rivalries, John Tyler bounced back from their lost #1 ranking last week to shutout Tyler Lee 21-0. The Lions held the Raiders to just 139 total yards in the 57th annual Rose City Rivalry. In the longest rivalry in Texas, Longview crushed Marshall 48-0. Princeton beat Commerce 39-28, but Commerce receiver Buck Wilson hauled in 10 receptions for 183 yards and three scores. Mt. Pleasant beat Terrell 76-33 in a wild shootout. QB Montravious James threw for 435 yards and seven touchdowns, rushed for 89 yards and scored twice more, giving him nine touchdowns for the night. WR K’Darius Cannon caught 13 passes for 225 yards and four touchdowns. Gilmer QB Todd Barr three three second half touchdowns, rallying from a 19 point deficit to edge Jacksonville 34-33. Brookhill’s Hunter Key had two touchdown catches on a 179 yard night and returned a punt for touchdown in a 24-20 win over Garrison. Kendrick Mapp rushed for 135 yards and two scores on only 12 carries as Lufkin smashed Nacogdoches 45-7
