Thursday night:
Passing records came tumbling down in the Hill Country as Marble Falls outscored Boerne Champion 62-55. New Marble Falls coach Todd Dodge has a new QB and he is Michael Richardson. The senior connected on 33 of 42 passes for a state record 722 yards and seven touchdowns. Boerne Champion’s Kyle Poeske threw for 595 yards in a losing cause. Kyle Johnson connected twice with Cole Rogers in the first quarter and Dripping Springs beat Crockett 49-17.

In Houston, Cy Ridge beat Cy Woods 54-21 as Renny Childs rushed for 176 yards and totaled three touchdowns. Clear Springs beat Eisenhower 49-32 with WR Byron Jones hauling in 9 passes for 235 yards and 2 TD’s. Springs QB Zach Cripps threw four touchdown passes, all in the first half. Waltrip QB Nathan Washington completed 17/20 passes for 280 yards and four scores in a 58-7 rout of Houston Austin.

Friday Night:

DFW:
Allen likely will move into the top spot in 5A rankings as they beat Hebron 42-17. Jeff Harris had two long touchdown runs in the 3rd quarter as part of a 160 yard rushing night. Coppell mowed down Garland 35-14 with junior Gavin McDaniel rushing for 141 yards on 16 carries. Boyd took advantage of four first half turnovers to ring up 24 points and Brian Driskell rushed for 221 yards and scored three times in a 44-7 rout of Lakeview Centennial. Sachse jr. QB Kent Myers continued his hot start to 2012, completing 26/30 for 347 yards and three scores. Rockwall Heath shut out Rowlett 45-0 and backup QB Jordan Hoy, making his first start, threw for 276 yards and 6 TD’s. Desoto rocked Cedar Hill 48-28 as junior QB Desmon White dominated with 339 yards passing and 68 yards rushing, contributing four touchdowns. Stephenville beat Waco LaVega 43-22 with Tyler Jones passing for 309 yards and four touchdowns. Ian Sadler had a punt return, kickoff return, and rush, all for touchdowns in a 44-13 win over Kennedale. Frisco Lonestar’s Will Campbell completed 19/28 passes for 203 yards and six touchdowns in just under three quarters. Canton turned their brother combination loose in a 45-24 win over Ranchview. Sophomore Chandler Elland threw for 301 yards and six scores, while senior brother Conner hauled in nine passes for 171 yards and two of those touchdowns. All Saints beats St. Mark’s 45-33. All Saints junior RB Daniel Gresham (Texas commit ) rushed for 178 yards and scored four times, while St. Mark’s QB John Webb passed for 361 and three scores. Cistercian beat Greenhill 39-14 with sophomore Dare Odegingbo rushed for 217 yards and three touchdowns.

Houston:
Class 4A’s #1 team, Pearland Dawson cruised past Clear Falls 55-24. A&M commit James White rushed for 123 yards and scored twice. In a bruising defensive battle, Alief Taylor edged Angleton 8-7 in a game where both teams combined for just barely over 500 total yards. Taylor’s Trevorris Johnson scored on a 5 yard run with just 19 seconds remaining and Taylor went for the win, sending Johnson in on a two-pt conversion run to win the game. Summer Creeks Aaron Sharp (jr) threw four first half touchdown passes, three to Torrey Johson in a 64-0 whitewashing of New Caney. Spring Westfield remained unbeaten , scoring with 2:48 to go to edge Klein 24-21. Converted LB David Hamm rushed for 282 yards for Klein. Langham Creek knocked off Cy Fair 21-17. Creek QB Connor Feist threw for 236 yards and his one yard scoring run with 2:23 was the game winner. Rosenberg Terry edged Ft. Bend Travis 49-42 as Kishawn McClain totaled 291 yards and five touchdowns. Kingwood Park beat New Caney Porter 63-24 with QB Jalen Hudson totaling 317 yards and four touchdowns. Cy Springs won their first game in two years with a 43 yard field goal by Diego Paz as time expired, beating Cy Ranch 37-34.

On Saturday night, defending state champion Dekaney pounded Klein Oak 63-14. Dekaney as a team rolled up 663 yards, including 448 on the ground. North Shore spotted Houston Madison an early touchdown, then scored 56 consecutive points to crush the Marlins 56-8. Keith Ford (Oklahoma commit) scored four touchdowns and rushed for 157 yards as Cy Ranch beat Jersey Village 50-35.

Central Texas:
Class 5A’s top-ranked team, Lake Travis saw their 25 game winning streak end at the hands of A&M Consolidated. In a see- saw affair Xavier Jones rushed for 147 yards for the Tigers and Shaun Nixon rushed for 193 for the Cavaliers. Lake Travis had not lost since an early season defeat at the hands of Aledo and Jonathan Gray in 2010. Cibolo Steele scored 28 unanswered points in the 3rd quarter to rally past Westlake 35-10. Justin Stockton had 106 yards rushing and two scores for the Knights. Leander, ranked #2 in Class 4A, continued their strong defensive performance with a 20-0 shutout of Pflugerville. Jake Hubenak threw two touchdowns passes as Georgetown beat Elgin 31-8. In the top matchup in San Antonio, Smithson Valley’s defense held Madison to just 105 yard rushing for the game, and beat the Mavericks 49-24. WR Taylor West figured in four touchdowns: catching a pass, rushing for one, returning a kickoff, and throwing a td pass for the Rangers. Pleasanton’s Luke Walters threw for 380 yards and three scores as Pleasanton knocked off Lytle 47-22.

East Texas:
Longview knocked off Lufkin 45-14 as Tory White rushed for 234 yards and three tds’. John Tyler got back on track, beating Mesquite Horn 35-20. QB Greg Ward(Houston commit) completed 16/20 passes for 219 yards and four scores to lead the Lion victory. Chaston Bennett rushed for 239 yards and three scores as Rusk beat Athens 42-14. New Diana beat Winona 27-7 with Garrett Barton rushing for 289 yards and one touchdown. Gilmer scored 22 points in an eight minute span of the third quarter to beat Daingerfield 43-14. Kilgore remained unbeaten with a 38-6 win over Mt. Pleasant as Ju Ju Brown rushed for 137 yards and two scores. Tyler Lee beat Texas High for the first time in history, taking advantage of two second half turnovers to beat the Tigers 23-7.

West Texas:
Stamford’s Hagen Hutchinson is shaking off his 2011 shoulder injury in fine fashion, throwing for 350 yards and four scores in a 34-14 win over Colorado City. Hutchinson also rushed for 106 yards and another touchdown. Munday’s Dee Paul totaled 243 yards and five scores as the Moguls shutout Bronte 34-0. Abilene QB Evin Abbe passed for 322 yards and three scores as the Eagles beat Permian 44-14, while across town, Cooper’s junior QB Lorenzo Joe (Texas commit) totaled 327 yards and three tds’. Canyon beat Hereford 42-19 with QB Blake Weaver connecting with WR Graeson Cook on four touchdown passes. Midland Greenwood stepped up a couple of classes with a 42-7 win over San Angelo. Kam Williams passed for 286 yards and rushed for 81, totaling 5 td’s. Shallowater junior Jarek Black rushed for 215 yards and three touchdowns as the Mustangs beat Dalhart 42-34. Tobyn Tannehill totaled 464 yards and 6 tds (evenly split run/pass) as Big Spring beat Andrews 51-14. Wall’s Grant Eubank rushed for 224 yards and four touchdowns and returned an interception for another, in a 43-20 win over Sweetwater.
