DFW:
In Thursday night action, both Arlington Bowie and Southlake Carroll clinched top seeds and consequently will avoid each other in the first round. Bowie beat rival Martin 44-26, which lost Texas commit Kyle Hicks to a leg injury, while Southlake scored 42 unanswered points, cruising past Haltom 56-17. Desoto completed an unbeaten season, as Desmon White led a fourth quarter comeback to beat Mansfield 37-23. Dalton Mills rushed for 311 yards on 25 carries to lead Keller past Richland 40-13. Mills also had a td reception. Erick Neal accounted for four touchdowns as Lincoln beat Bryan Adams 38-7.

On Friday, Arlington Lamar QB Charlie Baird completed 25/29 passes for 273 yards and 4 tds as the Vikings beat Paschal 61-28. Oklahoma commit Cody Thomas threw for 403 yards and 5 tds to lead Colleyville Heritage pas LD Bell 35-30. Jesuit WR Jake Oliver, State of Texas all -time leading receiver, continued to climb the national lists with six receptions for 169 yards and two tds, and Jesuit beat Richardson 59-33. Plano West knocked off Plano East 47-28 with soph RB Sontonya Jamabo rushing for 273 yards and two scores. In a big shootout in McKinney, Boyd beat McKinney High 56-21. Boyd RB Bryan Driskell rushed for 333 yards and seven touchdowns, while Lions’ QB Robert Somborn threw for 318 yards and 3 tds. Little Elm RB Ke’aunn Kinner had an average night for him, rushing for “only” 225 yards and two scores, but still led LE to a 44-29 win over the Colony. Argyle beat Celina 45-7 with WR Ian Sadler catching 9 passes for 180 yards and three tds. Euless Trinity had nine different players score a touchdown in a 71-6 rout of RL Turner. Red Oak’s duo of Cameron Bausley and Jeremiah Gaines combined for 395 yards rushing and six touchdowns in a 42-7 win over Arlington Seguin.

East Texas:
Oklahoma State commit Corion Webster rushed for 272 yards and two scores as Atlanta beat Pittsburg 41-28. John Tyler edged Whitehouse in a 45-38 shootout between two of East Texas’ top QB’s. JT’s Greg Ward (Houston commit) had 465 yards of offense and produced 5 touchdowns, while Whitehouse junior Patrick Mahomes threw for 428 yards and five touchdowns. However the star of the game may have been Lion’s SR DE Tyus Bowser, who recorded 12 tackles, and sacked Mahomes five times and recorded five pressures and a forced fumble. Arp beat Winona 51-17 as senior star Micheal Roberson totaled 357 yards and scored four touchdowns. Brookhill Academy beat Prince of Peace 66-44 with QB Will Weathers enjoying a 290 yard night and six touchdowns. Tyler Grace lost to Parish Episcopal 63-42 with Episcopal junior Zach Shelley rushing for 373 yards and five touchdowns. However Grace’s all- purpose star Kade Clayton rushed 14 times for 152 yards, scoring two touchdowns and a two point conversion, returned three kickoffs for 158 yards, and made 16 tackles on defense.

Houston:
Pearland Dawson wrapped up an unbeaten season with junior WR Tony Upchurch scoring four touchdowns with 203 total yards. Dawson is #1 in Class 4A. Class 5A’s #1, Katy tuned up for the playoffs, beating Memorial 41-6, as Adam Taylor rushed for 134 yards and two scores. Friendswood beat Galveston Ball 56-14 with QB Jordan wood passed for 118 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 280 yards and five more touchdowns. Katy Taylor QB Clay Holgorson threw for 284 yards and 8 touchdowns as Katy Taylor outlasted Mayde Creek 61-57. Zach Cripps threw for 323 yards and 3 tds. As Clear Springs beat Clear Creek 40-13. Rushing was the name of the game in Kingwood’s 59-56 win over Spring. Kingwood’s Kade Harrington rushed for 269 and three scores, but Spring’s duo of Doroland Dorceus and Xavier Jones combined for 492 yards rushing and seven touchdowns. Huffman Hargrave QB Preston Townley completed 26/37 passes for 484 yards and 9 touchdowns in a 73-50 win over Splendora. The Woodlands beat Oak Ridge 53-25 with Patrick Carr rushing for 265 yards and five touchdowns. Garrett Gunter threw for 389 yards and three tds as Northland Christian beat Second Baptist 52-31. Alfred Robertson passed for 346 yards and four scores, and rushed for 49 yards and another touchdowns as Worthing beat Furr 41-29.

West Texas:
Several good performances in El Paso. Coronado juniorRB Bobby Chacon rushed for 283 yards and four touchdowns in a 49-0 shutout of Bel Air. Franklin QB Cameron Candelaria passed for 337 yards and two scores and Franklin beat Socorro 49-16. Unbeaten Abilene wrapped up a perfect regular season, edging Midland 28-21, with QB Evin Abbe passing for four touchdowns. Stamford beat Anson 54-27 as Hagen Hutchinson passed for 219 yards , rushed for 202, and accounted for 7 touchdowns. Canadian beat Amarillo Highland Park 57-14 with junior QB Ben Arbuckle passing for 261 yards and five touchdowns.

Central Texas:
Deandre Story rushed for 148 of his 159 yards in the second half and Round Rock gained the last playoff spot in 16-5A edging Stony Point 30-29. Westlake bounced back from their loss to Lake Travis last week, shutting out Austin High 34-0. Hays Consolidated edged Alamo Heights 24-21 to join the Mules and Kerrville Tivy in a three way tie for District 27-4A’s championship. Tivy’s Parks McNeill rushed for four touchdowns and passed for two to beat Lockhart 62-28. Georgetown finished unbeaten with a solid 54-28 win over Bastrop. San Antonio’s two top 5A teams, Steele and Smithson Valley capped 10-0 regular seasons and are favored to meet for the Regional Title in a month. Steele beat Southweste 42-41 and Smithson Valley beat Wagner 35-7.
