PLAYOFFS –WEEK FOUR

5A:
Southlake Carroll knocked out Euless Trinity 16-7 as LB Steven Bergmark scored a touchdown, blocked a field gaol, recovered a fumble and intercepted a pass. Southlake will play Desoto next, as the Eagles beat Arlington Bowie, shutting out the Vols and holding them under 100 yards in the second half. Skyline’s Derrick Dixon intercepted two passes, including the game-clincher in the end zone with just seven seconds remaining and returned a fumble for a touchdown to lead the Raiders past Spring Westfield 38-33. #1 Katy thrashed LaPorte 55-10, outgaining LP 462-41 and holding them to just one first down for the game. Allen scored on five of its first seven possessions to roll over Westwood 56-24. Cedar Hills Damion Hobbs accounted for three touchdowns to lead the Longhorns past Arlington 49-14. Plano West blew a lost a 24 point lead and had to survived a missed Lufkin field goal on the last play of the game to edge the Panthers 55-52. San Antonio Madison crushed previously unbeaten Sharyland 40-13. Marquis Warford rushed for 209 yards and three touchdowns and had three more long ones called back by penalty. O’Connor beat Laredo Alexander to set up next week’s contest with Madison, whom O’Connor has never beaten in 10 tries. Steele shutout Edinburg North 38-0 as Jordan Sterns had two returns for touchdowns and the two teams combined for 239 yards of penalties. Brandeis rolled up 500 yards of total offense and blew out Del Rio 63-7. Austin Westlake scored twice on defense and forced seven Longview turnovers to surprise the Lobos 38-10. Waco Midway’s Kramer Robertson threw for 338 yards, rushed for 61 and accounted for three touchdowns as the Panthers knocked off unbeaten Abilene 34-31., North Shore QB Micah Thomas, playing with a fractured thumb on his throwing hand, engineered three scoring drives as the Mustangs edged Elsik 17-10. Cy Ranch scored 15 points in the final 2 ½ minutes to edge Manvel 43-42. Ranch RB Keith Ford rushed for 278 yards, scoring the winning touchdown with just 11 seconds remaining. Ford was also the games leading receiver with 145 yards.

4A:
Top-ranked Pearland Dawson was upset by Nederland 22-19 in overtime. Nederland blew a 16-0 lead in the third quarter but Dawson couldn’t overcome 14 penalties for 130 yards. Lancaster made a late goalline stand to turn back Prosper 36-29. Denton Guyer’s Jerrod Heard ran for 155 yards and tossed two touchdown passes as Guyer edged out Amarillo 38-30. Cedar Park advanced to the Division I quarterfinals for the third consecutive year, beating Alice 36-7, but lost start QB Nate Grimm to an ankle injury. The Timberwolves will face unbeaten San Antonio Brennan, which converted four fumble recoveries into touchdowns to beat Edcouch-Elsa 42-0. Brett Rattan’s late field goal was a game winner for Mesquite Poteet, which beat Wylie East 52-49 despite a four touchdowns, 314 rushing performance by East’s Jabari Anderson. Greg Ward completed 21/25 passes for 288 yards and four touchdowns as John Tyler beat Frisco 45-28. Frisco Centennial held Red Oak to just 36 total rushing yards and advanced 40-14. Georgetown remained unbeaten, scoring four touchdowns within an eight minute span in the second quarter, to beat Angleton 49-39. Qb Jake Hubenak figured in five touchdowns for the Eagles. Flour Bluff drove 80 yards in the final minute and a half, scoring on a fourth and 21 from the 27, to rally to beat Leander 29-27. Manor upset Rosenberg Terry 31-27 as Chris Johnson and Tyrone Owens rushed for a combined 288 yards and four touchdowns. Unbeaten Ft. Bend Marshall escaped Elgin 31-28 as JW Ketchum scampered 11 yards for the game-winning touchdown with just 14 seconds to play. Birdville remained unbeaten, scoring on its first six possessions to beat Lubbock Monterrey 42-21, as junior RB Xavier Turner rushed for 196 yards and four touchdowns. Frenship beat Waco 45-28 with D’Maujeric Tucker rushing for 386 yards and four touchdowns.

3A:
Gilmer got revenge over Argyle 42-31 which had knocked them out of the playoffs the past two years. Gilmer controlled the clock on explosive Argyle, rushing for 332 yards and 25 first downs. The Buckeyes will next meet Henderson which eliminated Celina 64-35 behind a 291 yard rushing night by Diamante Wright. Stephenville won a West Texas shootout over Abilene Wylie 59-28. Tyler Jones threw for 321 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for five more and the Yellow Jackets never punted, scoring on 9/10 possessions. Stephenville will face tough, defensive minded Kilgore, which ousted previously unbeaten Gainesville 30-14 behind a 137 yard rushing performance by sophomore Kevin Justice. El Campo remained unbeaten, beating Ingleside 31-20 behind a 112/3 td performance by RB Montray Johnson. The Ricebirds will face Carthage, which overcame three red zone turnovers to beat Silsbee 50-21. Top-ranked Navasota turned three turnovers into points in a 31-20 win over LaMarque in the top

2A:
Cameron-Yoe remained unbeaten with a 31-7 win over Lago Vista, holding the Vikings to just two first downs through the first three quarters. Corsicana Mildred got 196 yards rushing from Draylon Sterling and three touchdown passes from Nic Shimonek to oust Clarksville 44-14. Refugio got three touchdowns apiece from Travis Quintanilla and Draigon Silvas to oust Lexington 49-21. The Bobcats will now face one of the state’s toughest defenses in East Bernard, which advanced to the fourth round for the first time in 18 years with a 16-0 shutout of Blanco. Darius Floyd rushed for 247 yards and three touchdowns to lead Franklin over Tatum 49-30. Daingerfield rolled up 437 yards of offense to knock out Winnsboro 47-14.

1A:

Stamford opened up the weekend with a Thursday night 48-22 win over Quanah. Hagen Hutchinson accounted for six touchdowns for Stamford, which scored on five consecutive possessions within an 11 minute span in the first half. Defending Division I champion Mason, which defeated Stamford a year ago, won their 27th in a row, rushing for 488 yards in a 49-35 win over Thorndale.
