Mike Says: The Buckeyes made it to their 5th all-time state championship game last year. That being said, this years team may be even better. They have 13 starters return and are very confident. QB Tanner Barr will highlight the offense while LB Josh Walker is the star of defense. They are the favorite to win at least the region. They will go Division II and could very well win it all. They play in a very tough district and will have match-ups against Kilgore, Henderson and Tyler Chapel Hill.

Chris Says: This is the big bad District 16-3A that everyone calls the toughest district in Texas high school football and none are bigger or badder than the Gilmer Buckeyes. Coach Jeff Traylor has built a football machine in the heart of East Texas. Gilmer has an average number of athletes returning, but they are far from average in talent. Look for the Buckeyes to compete for another state championship. They once again have a very good chance to bring home the ring.
