DFW Week 3 Roundup

Forth Worth Dunbar vs Birdville: Dunbar 49-44
Dunbar came out of this last second shootout victorious, but not without a hard fight from the now 2-2 Birdville Hawks. The Hawks, despite the loss, had 3 separate rushers to break the 100 yd mark. Xavier Turner led the 3 rushers with 162 yds on 34 carries and had 4 TDs. Will Heyward and Isaiah Duarte had 147 and 113 yds respectively, Duarte also had a TD. While the Hawks combined for 422 yds on the ground Dunbar had La’Quarrian Peoples under center.  Peoples had a spectacular game completing 9-15 passes for 318 yds and 5 TDs, Stepfawn Hughes was his main target with 5 catches for 200 yds he also accounted for 3 TDs. This game was close all the way to the final whistle. When Xavier Turner scored with 41 seconds left the Hawks looked to have the win, however Peoples marched Dunbar down the field and completed a 30 yd pass to DeVonta Kinney with 4 sec left to seal the win for Dunbar.

DeSoto vs Cedar Hill: DeSoto 47-20
Another spectacular game for DeSoto as they played another top tier team and, as they have already proven before, showed why they were the #3 team in the state. And again for Cedar Hill they start the year a lot like last year playing two top 5 teams and suffering two difficult losses, the other loss coming to Allen, but this Cedar Hill team proved that they can still make noise after the season is over as they made it to State Championship game last year. As for this game Cedar Hill looked average next to the #3 team in the state. However for DeSoto QB Desmond White continues to flourish as an offensive stud as he completed 15 of 19 passes for 219, he also ran for 119 yds and accounted for 2 TDs total. Jatory Sparks-Brown also deserves credit as he scored 3 TDs on 48 yds rushing.

Garland Sachse vs Flower Mound: Garland Sachse 55-16
The Sachse Mustang offense continues to look unstoppable as they have now scored 50+ points in 3 of their first 4 games, and for QB Kent Myers he has now thrown for over 1000 yards this year and is completing 70.59 percent of his passes. In this game he completed 16 of 21 passes for 312 yds and 3 TD passes. The Sachse defense also deserves credit holding Flower Mound QB John Hofmeister who only completed 8 passes for 68 yds for the entire game. However he did run for 70 yds. They also forced two fumbles in the game one of which belonged to Hofmeister.

Trinity Christian Addison vs Frisco Wakeland: Trinity Christian 37-34
A game that Trinity Christian led early saw a frantic comeback from Frisco Wakeland only to see the defenses step up in a 4th
quarter that saw one TD, the entire quarter, by Trinity Christians QB Christian Hutzler to Parker Olive. QB Christian Hutzler went 18-34 for 218 yards and 3 TDs. Running back Nahshon Ellerbe had a god game as well running for 183 yds and an electric 71 yd TD. For the Frisco Wakeland team QB Jackson Lamb threw for 141 yards and completed 15 of 24 passes and one TD to Alex Marr who also ran for 4 TDs on 169 yards on 18 carries. While Marr led the team most of the game a late interception from Jackson Lamb in the 4th quarter sealed the win for Trinity Christian.

Ferris vs Quinlan Ford: Ferris 28-0
A defensive masterpiece from Ferris as allowed 201 total yds, but no points. Quilan Ford QB Brice Evilsizer went 0-4 with an interception. Running back,  Jon Humphries had a nice game however running for 109 yards, but again could not find the endzone. For Ferris offensively they ran for 134 yards led by QB Javaughn Thurmon who ran for 64 yds and 2 TDs. He also passed for 174 yards on 6 of 10 passing, including a 50 yard TD pass to Darius Rouwtt. The Defense for Ferris had their second shutout this season and their third game in a row not giving up a TD.

Fort Worth Paschal vs Dallas Sunset: Paschal 52-0
A Tale of two halves saw the Panthers score on every single possession in the first half also saw four different players score a rushing TD and only had one player exceed 100 total yards, QB Gibson Duwe who threw 2 TD passes. The Panthers 214 total yards rushing, yet they had no rusher who had more than 6 carries.  The Panther defense also deserves credit only giving up 81 total yards and forcing 3 turnovers. They held Sunset QB Marcos Conde to 32 yards on 3-12 passing as well. For Paschal they are cruising right now with an average margin of victory of 40.6 points game as they head into their next game against Arlington Houston. And for Dallas Sunset they are now 0-3 going into their game against Dallas White as they’re average loss margin of 31 points per game.
