Arlington vs Arlington Bowie: 24-21 Arlington

Arlington has the edge 19-10 all-time against Arlington Bowie in this rivalry game, butt Bowie was the favorite with the best record in district 3-5A and looking to continue their dominance of the district against the Colts. Bowie started off slow losing a fumble in the first possession, but the Colts couldn’t do anything with the great field possession. Arlington had a fumbled snap attempting a 28-yard field goal giving the ball right back to Bowie. Bowie would capitalize with their opportunity as quarterback Keaton Perry (11-20, 142 yards, 1 pass TD, 1 rush TD) led Bowie down the field and ran in for a 1-yard touchdown. The Colts would respond with quarterback Michael Gray (12-37, 157 yards, 1 TD, 103 rush yards, 2 rush TD) on a 32-yard run to the endzone to end the first quarter 7-7. Bowie controlled most of the second with a Brican Crossley 3-yard run (8 rush, 66 yards, 1 TD) and a 12-yard pass from Perry to Jordan Versey (5 rec, 63 yards, 1 TD). However the Colts went into halftime with the momentum thanks to a 4-yard pass from Gray to Mason Shaw (5 rec, 41 yards, TD) with 16 seconds left. The second half belonged to the Colts, shutting out Bowe the entire third and fourth quarter. A Brendan Conn field goal with 5:44 remaining in the game was the eventual winner as Bowie could not find the endzone late. On second down from the Arlington 17-yard line Bowie looked be able to at least tie the game with a field goal. However a bad snap forced third string quarterback Anthony Hawkins to chase it 23 yards and eventually out of field goal range as they would turn it over on downs. Bowie suffers its first loss in district, but still looks to win district despite the upset and for Arlington his win will now guarantee them a spot in the playoffs.

Fort Worth Paschal vs North Crowley: 21-20 Fort Worth Paschal

North Crowley might not be a playoff team this year (1-8, 1-5) but they were sure looking to play spoiler to Fort Worth Paschal (6-3, 3-3) at home as Paschal is still fighting to stay alive in district 3-5A. Paschal lead 14-12 at halftime thanks to a 7-yard touchdown run by Kelly Darrough (6 att, 20 yards TD) and a 7-yard pass from Dylon Thomas (14-22, 169 yards, TD, INT) to Paul Messman (3 rec, 22 yards TD). North Crowley kept it close with two touchdown runs by Dez Henderson (12 att, 69 yards, 2 TDs). The game stayed that way till the fourth quarter when
Rodney Stewart (1 rec, 6 yards, TD) caught a 6-yard pass from Keith Thomas (2-7, 12 yards, TD) it was Pascal’s turn to respond, and they did. With time expiring Kelly Darrough caught an 18-yard pass from Gibson Duwe (8-14, 107 yards, TD, INT) to win the game and keep the playoff chances alive for Paschal.

Mansfield Summit vs Mansfield Legacy: 33-30 Mansfield Summit

There was no shortage of offense in this defensive struggle as the only punt came with 1:41 left in the fourth quarter by Mansfield Summit, who was already up three points when they gave the ball back to Mansfield Legacy. Legacy had a chance to tie the game, but Jeremy Hoeltzer missed the potentially tying 48-yard field goal giving the ball back to Summit with 34 seconds left and the victory. This game had no shortage of yards with both teams combining for 790 yards, 232 by Legacy running back Kijana Amous (41 att, 215 yards, 2 TDs, 2 rec, 17 rec yards). The big game for Summit came from quarterback Braden Nolan who threw for 291 yards and three touchdowns. This win was important for Summit as it now places them in a chance to make the playoffs as they play Lancaster (4-5, 3-3) next week, for Legacy they’ll try to find momentum next week against Mansfield Lake Ridge (2-7, 1-5).

Frisco Centennial vs The Colony: 21-20 Frisco Centennial

The Colony came into this game with an undefeated record and an undefeated defense as no one has been able to figure out how to get past this defense. Frisco Centennial did, Centennial grinded against this defense all night, but the defense wouldn’t break until late in the fourth. The Colony scored on a blocked punt by Alec Gibbons giving them a 20-9 lead with 5:30 in the fourth putting them closer to an undefeated season. However, Centennials quarterback Kelly Cordova wasn’t giving up yet. Cordova (11-23, 168 yards, 2 TDs, 24 rush yards, rush TD) found DJ Jackson (3 rec, 71 yards, TD) for a 63-yard touchdown, after missing the 2-point conversion The Colony only had a slim 20-15 lead. After the kickoff it was the Frisco Centennials defense that made a big play, recovering the fumble from The Colony’s sure-handed running back Khalil Banks. The momentum had swung all the way to the Centennials sideline. Cordova would keep the momentum going with finding Stoney Hawkins (2 rec 38 yards, TD) for the 27-yard game-winning touchdown.

Flower Mound vs Flower Mound Marcus: 30-27 Flower Mound

These two teams may be at the bottom of their districts, but that doesn’t mean they can’t have an intense overtime thriller! Flower Mound Marcus tied the game with a Mark Demery (19 att, 75 yards, 3 TDs) 1-yard run with 7:10 left in the fourth quarter. Flower Mound would get the ball back, but would get punt giving Marcus a chance to win the game. Marcus moved the ball all the way to the Flower Mound 10-yard line. On 4th yards) was stopped at the line of scrimmage giving the ball back to Flower Mound with just over a minute left. However Flower Mound was forced to punt again and the game was headed into overtime. In the first overtime Marcus struck first with on a Demery 3-yard run. They would try for the 2pt-conversion and fail giving Flower Mound a chance to win with a touchdown and and 1 running back Cade Erwin (6 att, 25 an extra point. Flower Mound would get the touchdown on a pass from Conner Wanhanen (12-17, 171 yards, 2 TDs) to Logan Davis (1 rec, 14 yards, TD), but the extra point would be blocked, forcing the second overtime. In the second overtime after Cameron Gamble missed a 42-yard field goal, Marcus only needed a field goal to win. However Marcus running back Nate Hopkins (19 att, 88 yards, TD) fumbled the ball on the Flower Mound 17-yard line forcing a third overtime. In the third overtime Marcus ended their possession on a Jon Coppens 46-yard field goal that missed, Flower Mound now had a chance to win the game. After three straight runs plays, kicker Andrew Hitscherich connected on a 22-yard field goal to seal the victory for Flower Mound.

Rockwall vs Mesquite: 64-61 Rockwall

This game started and ended with a bang, both teams combined for 1,382 yards and 125 points. Rockwall’s Tamba Juanah (15 att, 160 yards, 4 TDs) started the fireworks scoring the first three touchdowns, and four overall in the first half. Mesquite running back Shadavian Reed (33 att, 436 yards, 6 TDs) would keep the game close with three touchdowns of his own in the first half Rockwall had the lead though 31-27 at halftime. In the third quarter Mesquite took the lead on a 8-yard run, but Rockwall cut the lead when Will Reed (17-30, 340 yards, 3 TDs) connected with Xavier Castille (8 rec, 181, 2 TDs, 15 att, 70 rush yards, 1 rush TD) for a 62-yard touchdown. In the fourth quarter both offenses exploded for 43 combined points including an Octayvious Miles (5 rec, 54 yards, TD) 70-yard kickoff return for a touchdown and a Castille 4-yard touchdown with a 4-yard touchdown run and 2-point conversion to send the game into overtime. In overtime after Mesquite quarterback Horace Leblanc III (21-27, 246 yards, TD, INT) who completed 77 percent of his passes, threw his first interception of the game. Rockwall would respond moving the ball to the 11-yard line setting up the 22-yard game winning field goal by Tony Pecora.
