Mike Says: The Chaparrals had a big time coaching change with Darren Allman leaving and Todd Dodge coming in. This years team does not have a lot of starters coming back so they will rely on a tough defense led by a very good group of young linebackers. Their first game against Dodge's former Southlake Carroll team will be a great one to watch. Look for the Chaparrals to win 7 or 8 games in the regular season and come in 2nd in the district behind Lake Travis. They should then go 2 or 3 rounds in the playoffs.

Chris Says:If there is one trend you can count on, it is that Coach Todd Dodge creates excellent teams in communities where the support is strong. It doesn't get a lot stronger than the Austin Westlake community. The Chaps could slip as low as 3rd in District 14-6A as graduation has really decimated their experience. Look for Dodge though, to create some stars out of offensive players that right now think they are just average. He has a way of doing that. The defense appears to be in good hands with their strong linebacking core.
