This is the first meeting between the two Houston area powers. Both teams come into the season with high expectations after making deep playoff runs last year. After suffering a 56-14 loss to Katy in the Regional final last year Manvel Head Coach Kirk Martin said "We have to get more physical."

Manvel has Athletes everywhere on the field, but unless they get tougher the dreams of a state title may again fall short.

Westfield was drubbed in the Regional Final by eventual State Champion, Allen 48-13. They boast one of the best o lines with Weathersby and Iwuagwu paving the way for RB Downs.

Transfers QB Sterling-Cole (West Orange Stark) and WR Cleveland (Northbrook) will have to adjust to not only each other but a new offense, if they find a rhythm Westfield could be a factor in the Title mix.

This is a great matchup for both teams to see how far they have come. For Manvel this game will allow them to face a power running team and see if the defense has made the necessary strides. For Westfield, they get to see how they fare against a team that spreads you out and throws the ball all over the field.
