Texas high school footballMike Says: No one expected this match-up. Yoe is ranked higher in our end of season rankings and they were only #18. We had Cameron Yoe going to the semifinals in the pre-season but after they started the season out with a 2-4 record, they fell in the rankings. Mineola did not start off much better going 0-3 to start the season. The old saying "That's Why They Play The Game" is true. Cameron is led by RB Traion Smith (2,127 rushing yard) and is coming back for the 3rd consecutive time in the championship game. Yoe looks to be the clear favorite with Mineola playing in their first ever championship game. Better not overlook the upstart Yellowjackets. Just ask the last 12 teams they have played what happens (you add 1 to your loss column). It will be fun to see if Mineola can finish out their Cinderella season. The YOEMEN win it though 34-14!!

Texas high school footballChris Says: Cameron Yoe is a team we had ranked #2 in our preseason poll.  There were quite a few 'experts' who thought we were "cray cray." They graduated too much talent - they didn't have the depth... we heard it all.  It certainly looked like we were wrong as they started losing games, but Coach Rick Rhoades was coming off a 30-1 record over the previous and two straight State Championship wins.    This will be the 4th appearance in the title game in the last five years and we stuck with the Yoemen for a reason... they know how to win.  Three straight titles for the YOEMEN 48-20!!
