Allen Wins 3rd Consecutive State Championship

The Allen Eagles won their 3rd consecutive and 4th overall state championship with a 47-16 victory over the Cypress Ranch Mustangs in the Class 6A Division I Championship game at AT&T Stadium. The Eagles are now 4-0 in all-time state championship games and this was the first one for Cypress Ranch.

It only took Allen 4 plays to score to open the game when Eagle quarterback Kyler Murray hit receiver Cody Butler for 51 yards and a touchdown to lead 7-0. Cypress Ranch fumbled on their next possession at midfield but they held Allen and the Eagles missed a 46 yard field goal. The Mustangs then settled down and went on an 11 play 71 yard drive that was capped by a Charlie Booker run for 3 yards to tied the score at 7. Allen started the 2nd half with a 16 play, 69 yard drive that ended with a 1 yard run by running back Keon Williams to take a 14-7 lead. The Mustangs quarterback Collin Rock threw a pass to Chandler Thomas for 62 yards on the 1st play on their next possession. The Ranch running back fumbled at the Allen 1 just before the back went across the goal line. Allen went 3 & out and had to punt from their own 2. Ranch took over and got a 39 yard field goal to bring the score to 14-10 with 33 seconds left. Allen took over at their 34 with only 33 seconds left in the half. It only took Kyler Murray 4 plays and 33 seconds. He threw a touchdown pass to receiver Kerry Hall for 17 yards to bring the score to 21-10 at half.

Murry had a 30 yard scramble and then completed a 2 yard touchdown pass to Kerry Hall after Ranch fumbled at their own 42. The Mustangs answered with a 19 yard run by Charlie Booker to bring the score to 28-16. The PAT was blocked and returned by Dallas George for defensive PAT to make the score 30-16. The rest was all Allen as they got a field goal and two Murray touchdown passes to make the final 47-16.

The attendance for the game was 52,308 which ranks #2 all-time.
