Lone Star Gridiron 2014 Texas high school football players of the year

Winner: RB Nick Ralston (Argyle)

Running back Nick Ralston muscled the ball down the field for 2,771 yards on 394 carries during the 2014 season.  These trips finished in the end zone for 41 touchdowns.  Ralston's contributions helped bring Argyle to the state championship game in 2014, where he carried the ball a grand total of 54 times for 225 yards and three touchdowns.  The 54 carries was just six shy of the all-time record for carries in a single game.

2. WR Tren'Davian Dickson (Navasota)

Wide receiver and junior, Tren'Davian Dickson caught 90 passes for 2,163 yards for the 2014 season. Dickson scored 39 touchdowns, which broke a national record for total receptions in a single season. His efforts ultimately lead the Rattlers to the state championship game in 2014.

3. QB Shelton Eppler (Navasota)

Quarterback Shelton Eppler completed a total of 286 passes on 427 attempts for 5,444 yards. The high school junior helped his teammates reach the end zone for 71 touchdowns. Eppler's efforts helped lead the Rattlers to the state championship game win in 2014.

4. QB Jarrett Stidham (Stephenville)

Quarterback Jarrett Stidham threw a total of 2,430 yards in the 2014 season. Stidham also ran for 753 yards and 39 touchdowns. His passing lead the Yellow Jackets to a record of 9-4 for the 2014 season.
