John Gaddis wins 2016 Class 5A Defensive Player of the Year
Corpus Christi Calallen Defensive Back, John Gaddis is the winner of the LSG 2016 Class 5A Defensive Player of the Year award. Gaddis headed up a Wildcat defense that led his team to the state championship game. During the season, that defense held their opponents to 7 points or less twelve (12) times. Gaddis was also named Honorable Mention All-State by the Associated Press and 1st Team All-State by the Texas Sports Writers Association.
The 1st and 2nd runners-up for the 2016 award were:
- 1st Runner Up - Allie Green DB Austin LBJ, 1st Team All-State TSWA & AP
- 2nd Runner Up - John House LB Dallas Highland Park 1st Team All-State TSWA Honorable Mention All-State AP State Champions
