Hill, Steele, and Yoe 3-11… wait, what??

Is it Time to Panic?

State football powers Cibolo Steele, Cameron Yoe and Cedar Hill are a combined 3-11 to start the 2017 season. All three of these teams are recent state champions and have long histories of winning seasons. What has gone wrong?

Cibolo Steele -- 10 consecutive 9+ win seasons (116-18) Have been in the 2010, 2011 and 2016 state championship games

Cedar Hill -- 12 year winning streak Have been in the 2006, 2012, 2013 and 2014 state championship games

Cameron Yoe -- 9 year winning streak Have been in the 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 state championship games

If you just look a the records then a lot is wrong. Once you dig a little deeper then you will find that these teams have played very tough schedules. They will be in the playoffs and will be tough outs.

Cibolo Steele's opponents have a combined 20-4 record. They have losses to #7 Austin Lake Travis, #11 Northside O'Connor #9 Smithson Valley and #1 Converse Judson.

Cameron Yoe's opponents have a combined 16-8 record. They have losses to #31 4A DI Gatesville, #8 4A DI China Spring #20 4A DI Bay City and #23 McGregor.

Cedar Hill's opponents have a combined 15-2 record. They have losses to #3 Allen, #41 Mansfield and #5 DeSoto.

These teams will be there in the end. We have not given up on them at all. We still have Cameron Yoe ranked #9, Cedar Hill ranked #19 and Steele ranked #24. Look for them to keep climbing in those polls as they start racking up the Ws.

Doubt that? Remember in 2014 Cameron Yoe started off the season 2-4 before winning 10 straight and taking home the state championship.  Also, in 2015, Galena Park North Shore began the season 1-3 and then won 12 straight to win a state championship. Champions don't panic.

What do you have to say?
