Friday Night Legends is a football board game that uses actual team statistics, play calling and some luck to determine the outcome - kind of like real life! In this series, we will take some of these great teams we have compiled and give you a write-up of how the two played using Friday Night Legends.

In this game, we pitted 2004 Tuscola Jim Ned against the 1978 Sealy squad. Each featured a player that made an impact on the college and professional level. Nearly 30 years apart, this is a matchup that could only happen in your imagination... until now.

Tuscola Jim Ned went 12-1 in 2004 led by QB Colt McCoy (University of Texas). Jim Ned averaged points 44.08 per game and gave up an average of 9.85 points per game.

Sealy won the Class 2A championship with a 15-0 record. They were led by superstar RB Eric Dickerson (SMU). Sealy averaged 35.93 points while giving up 11.13.

Lets see what happened!!

1st Quarter

Sealy fumbled and turned the ball over on the opening kickoff giving Jim Ned great field position at the Sealy 24. Jim Ned converted on a 3rd and 10 to score from the 12 yards out to take the lead 7-0 early on. Sealy didn't do much better on the next drive. They punted after a penalty and Big Play tackle for loss by the Jim Ned defense. On the punt, Jim Ned got a 19 yard punt return which set them up once again with great field position. Jim Ned was stuffed for two losses and they punted. Sealy then used their strong running game to make it to the Jim Ned 13 but was finally forced to kick a field goal. The Tigers remained snake-bit and missed the field goal.  Things finally started to turn when Jim Ned fumbled at midfield and it was recovered by Sealy with 1:40 left in the 1st quarter. Sealy went to the pass and scored from 12 yards out to tie the game at 7 right before the quarter ended.

2nd Quarter

Jim Ned converted on a 3rd and 14 and 3rd and 6 and drove to the Sealy 32 before missing on a 49 yard field goal. Two plays later Sealy threw an interception and Jim Ned had the ball at the Sealy 42. Jim Ned completed passes on their last four plays of the drive to score a touchdown with 5:10 left until half to take a 14-7 lead. Sealy went three-and-out after the Jim Ned defense held strong once again. Jim Ned used their passing game to score and stretch their lead to 21-7 with 1:30 left until half. Sealy then went to their hurry up offense and was able to kick a 37 yard field goal as the first half came to an end. 21-10 Jim Ned.

Through the first half, Jim Ned was leading in Big Plays 3-2. The Jim Ned running game was not doing so well (16 carries for 28 yards) but their passing game was great (14 of 18 for 146 yards). Sealy was getting yards (55 rushing and 91 passing) but they had 2 turnovers and 4 penalties compared to 0 turnovers and 2 penalties for Jim Ned.

3rd Quarter

The Sealy defense got a Big Play to stop Jim Ned's first drive of the 2nd half and forced a punt. Jim Ned got off a great punt and pinned Sealy down at their own 5. Three incomplete passes and Sealy had to punt once again. Jim Ned started in Sealy territory and was able to kick a 24 yard field goal to extend their lead to 24-10. Sealy scored after driving the ball 65 yards but they were called for a penalty marking the 2nd time in the game, they had a long run called back. They then missed a 31 yard field goal try. Jim Ned went three-and-out and was forced to punt. Sealy got a big 25 yard punt return to the Jim Ned 27. The quarter ends with Sealy at the Jim Ned 16.

4th Quarter

Sealy ran it in from 7 yards out to make the score 24-17. On their next drive, Jim Ned converted a 3rd and 12 to keep alive a nearly 6 minute drive down to the Sealy 2. From their they settled for a 19 yard field goal to make the score 27-17 with 5:20 left in the game. Sealy turned the ball over on downs with 2:50 left in the game. They were able to force Jim Ned into a three-and-out and got the ball back at their own 11 with 1:50 left. Time ran out on the Tigers though and Jim Ned got the big win.

The running game for Sealy missed out on a couple of game-changing plays while Jim Ned's passing game clicked right along. All the bounces seemed to go the way of the Jim Ned squad this time. It was a close game despite all the miscues and if you play this one again, the outcome is likely to be a lot different.
