They say everything is bigger in Texas and Allen Independent School District is no exception with construction underway on the new $60 million football stadium. Slated to open in July, the Eagles will unveil the larger-than-life facility on the industry-leading Matrix® synthetic turf system by Hellas Sports Construction.

Resembling a college-style coliseum with the sunken bowl design and generous 18,000 seating capacity, Eagles Stadium will feature over 90,000 square feet of Matrix turf with permanent lines for football and soccer and CushDrain® elastic shock pad for improved shock absorption and drainage. Once complete, the Class 5A powerhouse will have the largest high school football stadium dedicated to one team in the state of Texas.

For Allen athletic director Steve Williams, the twenty-plus year relationship of working with Reed J. Seaton and Hellas Construction has been an enjoyable experience.

“Along with their excellent customer service and turn-key operation, I feel Hellas has the best product on the market today,” said Williams. “You hear people say they are Chevy people. Some say they are Ford people. We are Hellas people.”

Other highlights include a two-tier press box, a high-definition video replay scoreboard, outdoor plazas, a Wall of Honor, a training room for the wrestling team and an indoor golf practice area.

The stadium is part of the $119 million bond initiative that passed in May 2009, which includes a new fine art auditorium and transportation service center for the district. A growing city of nearly 85,000 residents, the Dallas suburb has a student body of over 5,000, including a 650-member marching band, the largest in the nation.

According to Williams, the current stadium was built back in 1976 and was originally designed for a Class 3A program with a 7,200 capacity. Despite their best efforts to adapt to the school’s growth, the need for a bigger stadium was evident.

“Even after two expansions and the addition of temporary seating for 7,000, we are still unable to accommodate everyone — the fans, our concessions, the media and so on,” said Williams.

The new Matrix field will give Allen ISD the ability to rent out the facility for playoff games and band competitions, host graduation ceremonies, and even the option to be a concert venue. Williams says plans are also in the works to possibly host some high school classics and Division-II college football games.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Team registration for Division II is Thursday, 10-11:30 AM and Friday, 10:30-Noon for Division I at Penberthy Intramural Fields. Teams must register by the end of the registration deadline regardless of the time of their first game. All registration materials will be picked up when you register. This includes – assigned pools/where you will play/times of your games/site map.

The only two items a Team Coach needs to bring when you check-in are the Release of Liability Form and the Team Roster/Player Fees, which you can download off this site. Have them signed and present them at registration.

DIVISION II – Thursday, July 19th

• Registration is from 10:00 am to 11:30 am
• Pool play begins at 12:00 Noon
• Four teams in each pool.

All teams will play at least three games on Thursday. (those teams that will play in the Consolation Bracket will play a 4th game Thursday)

If you start pool play at Noon, your next two games are at 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.

If you start at 1:00 p.m. your next two games are at 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.

The top two teams from each pool will advance to a Championship round Friday morning while the remaining two teams from each pool will advance to the Consolation Bracket 1st round beginning Thursday evening at approximately 6:30 p.m. All teams in the Championship Bracket will play at least one game on Friday morning.

Friday, July 20th

• Consolation and Championship Bracket Play.
• 1st round of the Championship Bracket begins at 8:00 a.m.
• The 2nd round of the Consolation Bracket will begin at 9:00 a.m.
• Consolation Championship Game will be played at approximately 1:15 p.m. at Kyle Field
• The Division II State 7on7 Championship Game will be played at Kyle Field at 2:15 p.m.

DIVISION I -Friday, July 20th

• Registration is from 10:30 am to Noon

All teams will play three games on Friday.

• Consolation and Championship pairings and sites will be available Saturday morning at 7:30 a.m. at the registration tent
• Consolation rounds begin at 8:00 a.m.
• Championship rounds begin at 9:00 a.m.
• Consolation Championship Game will be played at 3:00 p.m. at Kyle Field
• The Division I State 7on7 Championship Game will be played at Kyle Field at 4:00 p.m.

NOTES:  The State Tournament will REQUIRE each player to have a numbered home and away t-shirt (with a minimum 2″ number on the front and a minimum 4″ number on the back). This allows tournament officials to monitor player participation.

RV Parking

Recreational vehicles parked in the designated RV parking areas are required to display an RV parking permit which is obtained from the Transportation Services office. TAMU parking permits intended for passenger vehicles are not acceptable. Recreational vehicles may not be stored on campus while they are not in use. Permits for both vehicles must be purchased for recreational vehicles that are pulled by a passenger vehicle.

RV parking for 7-on-7 will ONLY be allowed at our Olsen Field facility in lot 100k.  No RV parking will be allowed in any other lots. Reservations are required.  Transportation Services is happy to take your reservations Monday through Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. You may contact us at 979.862.2551.

Team News: The Raiders are on a 10 game losing streak. They will be part of district 11-5A for the next 2 seasons after re-alignment. District 11-5A includes Garland, Garland Lakeview Cent, Garland Naaman Forest, Garland Rowlett, Garland Sachse, North Garland and South Garland.

Old Head Coach: Jose Briones — Resigned after leading the Panthers for the past 4 years going 13-27. Was assistant at Laredo United for the 5 seasons fort taking over with the Panthers.

New Head Coach: Sergio Salinas — This will be his first head coaching job. He was the defensive coordinator at Laredo United for the last 7 years.

Team News: The Eagles have had 7 consecutive non-winning seasons going 14-53 during that time. Dropping down to 4A may help. District 22-4A will consist of Fort Bend Marshall, Fort Bend Ridge Point, Fort Bend Willowridge, Houston Northbrook, Houston Spring Woods, Houston Stratford, Tomball and Tomball Memorial.

2012 Coaching Change: Denton Broncos

Old Head Coach: Randy Patzkowski — Retired after leading the Broncos to an overall 11-60 record over the last 7 seasons. His only other head coaching job was at 3A/4A Lake Dallas where he went 13-9 over 2 seasons. He was also an assistant at McKinney and Richardson Pearce after coaching at Oklahoma, LSU and Oklahoma State.

New Head Coach: Kevin Atkinson — Left 5A Keller after leading the Indians to a 50-55 record over the last 10 seasons. He was the offensive coordinator for Denton Ryan during their 2001 Championship season.

Team News: The Broncos are on a 8 year losing streak going 13-68. They will move from 4-4A to District 5-4A for the next two seasons with Azle, Denton Guyer, Lake Dallas, Northwest Nelson, Fort Worth Brewer, Wichita Falls and Wichita Falls Rider.

* Will Austin Lake Travis move up to Class 5A?
Yes–They moved into District 15-5A along with Austin High, Austin Akins, Austin Anderson. Austin Bowie, Austin Westlake and Austin Del Valle. Their game with Westlake will be even higher profile now.

* Will Manvel move up to Class 5A?
Yes–The Mavericks moved into District 22-5A with Alvin, Pasadena, Pasadena Dobie, Pasadena Memorial, Pasadena Rayburn, Pasadena South Houston and Pearland. The Mavericks swith rivals from Pearland Dawson to Pearland High.

* Will La Marque move down to Class 3A?
Yes–The Cougars will be in District 24-3A with Houston KIPP Sunnyside, Stafford, Sweeny and West Columbia. The La Marque/West Columbia game will be a good one.

* Will Stephenville move down to Class 3A?
Yes–The Yellow Jackets moved down to District 7-3A along with Alvarado, Glen Rose, Hillsboro and Venus. Could this create 3A Championship games over former 4A Schools Stephenville vs. La Marque (they played for the 4A titles in 1993, 1994 and 1998 with the Yellow Jackets winning all 3 games)

* Will El Campo move down to Class 3A?
Yes–They will now be in a very tough District 25-3A with Bellville, Columbus, Needville, Royal, Sealy and Wharton.

* Will District 8-4A (Stephenville, Waco schools, Killeen & San Angelo Lake View) be split up — lots of travel here?
Yes–This one went all over. Stephenville dropped to 3A, Killeen and Waco Midway moved up to 5A and San Angelo Lake View went over to 4-4A in the Lubbock area.

* Will Denton Guyer remain in Class 5A?
No–Guyer swapped places with Denton Ryan as Guyer dropped to 5-4A and Ryan moved up to 5-5A.

* Will Longview move down to Class 4A?
No–Longview stayed in 5A with District 12-5A which has Mesquite, Mesquite Horn, North Mesquite, Rockwall, Rockwall-Heath and Tyler Lee

* Will the Fort Bend school district (23-5A) break into 4A & 5A groups?
Yes–3 Fort Bend schools (Fort Bend Marshall, Fort Bend Ridge Point and Fort Bend Willowridge) dropped to 4A to join District 22-4A with Houston Northbrook, Houston Spring Woods, Houston Stratford, Tomball and Tomball Memorial. 23-5A will have the rest of the Fort Bend schools — Fort Bend Austin, Fort Bend Bush, Fort Bend Clements, Fort Bend Dulles, Fort Bend Elkins, Fort Bend Hightower, Fort Bend Kempner and Fort Bend Travis.

* Will 29-5A break into 4A & 5A groups?
Yes–3 of them (Laredo Cigarroa, Laredo Martin and Laredo Nixon) dropped down to 4A to join District 31-4A with Alice, CC Flour Bluff, Corpus Christi Miller, Corpus Christi Moody and Corpus Christi Ray. The rest of them – Del Rio, Eagle Pass, Eagle Pass Winn, Laredo Alexander, Laredo Johnson, Laredo United and Laredo United South stayed in 29-5A.

* How will 7-4A be effected? (3 teams over 2,035 students last time)
This district split up — Granbury stayed in 4A and in 7-4A, Burleson, Cleburne, Joshua, Crowley and Everman moved to 8-4A, Arlington Seguin, Mansfield Summitt (stayed in 4A) moved to 15-4A.

* Will the Carrollton schools move up to 5A? (all 3 over 1,990 students last time)
Not all of them – Carrollton Turned moved up to 6-5A, Creekview and Smith moved ot 10-4A along with Dallas Highland Park, Forney, Mesquite Poteet, North Forney, Terrell and West Mesquite.

* Will Wylie move up to 5A?
No–They did move from 10-4A to District 13-4A though to be with Denison, Greenville, Lucas Lovejoy, McKinney North, Royse City, Sherman and Wylie East.

* Will Tyler John Tyler remain in 4A?
Yes–They move from 14-4A to District 16-4A with Corsicana. Jacksonville, Lindale, Nacogdoches and Whitehouse.

* Will Kilgore move down to 3A?
Yes–They drop down into one of the toughest 3A districts in the state — District 16-3A with Bullard, Gilmer, Gladewater, Henderson, Longview Spring Hill and Tyler Chapel Hill.

Yes & No — Pflugerville Connally stays in 4A moving from Region II to Region III with District 17-4A along with Bastrop, Bastrop Cedar Creek, Elgin, Georgetown, Georgetown East View, Hutto and Manor. 2012 Coaching Change: Bryan Vikings

Old Head Coach: Bob Bellard — Resigned after leading the vikings for the past 6 years to a 32-31 record. Coach Bellard’s career record now sits at 131-108-1. This ranks him #267 on the all-time coaching wins list.

New Head Coach: Ross Rogers — Coming out of retirement. Coach Rogers has been the head coach at 2A Hempstead 1977 (5-4-1), 2A/3A Waller 1978-1982 (44-11-6), 3A Giddings 1987 (7-3), 4A/5A A&M Consolidated 1988-1999 (103-47-2) and Killeen Harker Heights 2000-2006 (52-27-0). He has a career coaching record of 211-92-9 which put him at #57 on the all-time coaching wins list.

2012 Coaching Change: Austin Anderson Trojans

Old Head Coach: Bill Ramzinsky — Was the interim head coach for the Trojans last year leading them to a 5-5 record. Before taking over last year, he was the offensive coordinator at Anderson for the previous 4 seasons.

New Head Coach: Darin Shaw — Was the Trojans defensive coordinator for the past 5 seasons. He has also been an assistant coach at Lamesa, Pflugerville and Pflugerville Connally.

Team News: Their rival game is the “Taco Shack Bowl” vs. Austin McCallum. They beat McCallum 16-10 last year.

Director and founder, Gordon McKee explained it this way, “Part of the beauty of the Lone Star Gridiron Spirit Bowl is the coming together of what have been two different worlds of football – public and private.  What better way to really combine those worlds than to have them play side-by-side on the same team?  Rather than highlight our differences and focus on what separates us, we felt we should come together in the true spirit of Texas high school football and play together.”

McKee says that talks are underway with the bowl sponsors to even possibly stream the game LIVE for fans around the world to watch.  If that comes to pass, LSG-TV has already agreed to carry the feed on Lone Star Gridiron as well as other outlets.

The 2012 Lone Star Gridiron Spirit Bowl will be held June 29th, 2012 in Moody, Texas (about 25 miles outside of Waco.)

Coaches for the two all star teams are Coach John Ward – Head Football/AD Moody H.S. , Moody, TX and Coach Aaron Stone – Head Football/AD – Lubbock Christian School.

2012 Coaching Change: Richland Rebels

Old Head Coach: Gene Wier — Resigns after leading the Rebels to a 43-50 record over the last 9 seasons. Before coming to Richland, Wier coached at Olathe Kansas North going 188-36 while winning six state championships.

New Head Coach: Ged Kates — From Fort Worth Arlington Heights where he led the Yellow Jackets to a 19-4 record over the last 2 seasons. Coach Kates is a 1994 graduate of Richland. His other coaching jobs have been an assistant with the Rebels in 2000, assistant with Euless Trinity from 2001-2003, offensive coordinator at Grand Prairie from 2004-2007 and offensive coordinator for the Yellow Jackets from 2008-2009. His brother Matt, is the head coach at 3A La Grange.

Team News: The Rebels are 15-16 over the last 3 seasons.

2012 Coaching Change: Converse Judson Rockets

Old Head Coach: Jim Rackley — Retiring after leading the Rockets over the last 11 years to a 101-37 record. His 2002 team won the class 5A Division I state championship. They were state runner ups in 2005 and 2007. Coach Rackley started his career as an assistant at Mathis. His only other UIL head coaching job was at San Antonio Southwest where he led the Dragons to a 27-24 record from 1988-1992. He finishes with an overall 128-61 UIL coaching record. Coach Rackley ranks #269 on the all-time coaching wins list/.

New Head Coach: Mark Smith — From Kerrville Tivy where he led the Antlers to a 93-33-0 record over the last 10 years. coach Smith was the defensive coordinator at Tivy 3 years before taking over as head coach.

Team USA plays the International squad in 2012 International Bowl on Wednesday February 1, 2012 at 7 p.m. at the Kelly Reeves Athletic Complex in Round Rock.

This will be the third annual International Bowl against high school aged football players from four continents on the International Federation of American Football (IFAF).

Fifty U.S. high school seniors will make up Team USA. A national team exemption granted by the NCAA allows high school seniors to play for USA Football and not have their participation count as one of two permitted all-star game appearances.
The International Bowl is a national team competition, not an all-star game.

TEAM USA TEXAS COACHES

CRAIG CHESSHER, Round Rock Stony Point will be the defensive line coach.
Chessher took over at Stony Point in 2004, leading his team to a 49-8 record (.860) the last four seasons (59-38 overall). He led Stony Point to Texas’ Class 5A Division I state semifinals in 2008, 2009 and 2010. Chessher also was the assistant head coach and defensive coordinator of Galena Park North Shore in 2003, helping lead them to the Class 5A Division I state title.

CHARLIE WARD, Houston Westbury Christian will be the wide receivers coach.
In four seasons at Westbury Christian, Ward is 17-23, including a 5-6 mark in 2011. The former Florida State quarterback won the national championship and Heisman Trophy in 1993 before embarking on an 11 year career in the NBA. Ward took over Westbury Christian in 2008 after a year as an assistant coach.

L.D. WILLIAMS, Austin High will be the offensive line coach.
Williams has been a high school football coach for 23 years, most recently as head coach at Austin High School, where he led the Maroons to back to back playoff appearances. Williams also spent 19 years at Leander High School as offensive coordinator, reaching the regional finals in 2002. He served as an instructor at the U.S. Under 19 Regional Trials last February in Austin.

Three of the four Class 4A championship game participants (Austin Lake Travis, Waco Midway and Manvel) all look to be moving up to Class 4A.  Looking at Region I, the little Southwest Conference stays alive in District 2 with Abilene Cooper on the edge of the cutoff.  District 7 looks to have some changes.  Denton Guyer moves down to 4A while Denton Ryan moves up.  Also, the Flower Mound schools move over from District 8.  In Region II, District 11 will welcome in the two Rockwall schools to go with the Mesquite schools, Tyler Lee and Longview.  District 15 gets tougher with the Conroe schools, Lufkin and The Woodlands bringing in the Spring schools.  In Region III, District 19 would be interesting with Bryan and A&M Consolidated teaming up with the Katy schools.  District 23 will drop only a few of the Fort Bend schools.  They will leave 8 ,which is the UIL cutoff, where they cannot bring in more schools if one ISD has 8 or more.   In Region IV, I like district 25 with the addition of Smithson Valley.  The last 4 districts are almost all Valley schools.

Austin Lake Travis, Smithson Valley, New Braunfels Canyon, Manvel, Denton Ryan – we are talking a lot of solid teams making the move up to 5A.  If LT does get placed in 5A, they are putting their five straight title run on the line.  What looked like a sure bet if they stayed in 4A is at definite risk when they play with the larger schools.  I do think these districts look to make a lot of sense from a regional standpoint.   I also like the Katy teams with the Bryan/College Station schools.  The combination of teams in District 15 looks to provide a lot of fireworks North of Houston as well.

Old Head Coach: Don Willis — Leaving after leading the Patriots to a 18-52 record over the last 7 seasons.

New Head Coach:  — Kendall Miller — From 4A Dallas South Oak Cliff where he led the Golden Bears to a 29-6 record over the last 3 seasons. This was his first head coaching job. Before that he was an Assistant Coach at Arlington Bowie 2008, Arlington Sequin Assistant 2007, Dallas Lincoln offensive coordinator in 2006, Arlington Sam Houston offensive coordinator 3 years. His dad Ocell Miller, spent six seasons as Dallas Samuell’s head coach before retiring in 1997.

2012 Coaching Change: La Villa Cardinals

Old Head Coach: Gene Garza — Resigned after leading the Cardinals to a 32-23 record over the last 5 years. He was also an assistant at Edcouch-Elsa from 2001-2006 and Edinburg from 1999-2000.

New Head Coach: Danny Perez — Has been an assistant coach with the Cardinals for the past 5 seasons and is their current defensive coordinator.
