  • Mike Says: The Bears are in a tough situation. They play in one of the toughest districts in the state and they only bring back 8 lettermen this year. The good news is that they have a strong class of JV players coming up. Their seasons comes down to one thing. They have to win 3 district games and that will be tough with Gilmer, Kilgore, Chapel Hill and Henderson being one of those wins.
  • Chris Says: Gladewater went 0-6 in District 16-3A last season but their closest loss was to powerhouse, Gilmer.  What that tells me is that the Bears are not a bad team.  Being in the toughest district in 3A and being knocked around by teams like Gilmer, Kilgore, Chapel Hill etc. can start to erode your belief.  Coach Jerrod Baugh needs to win the mental game with his students before they will start to win on the field.  Or, it could be that Gilmer was just slacking when they played.  Either way, look for Gladewater to struggle.  While playoffs may be a reach this season, the youth coming up could turn things around by next year.
