Port Lavaca Calhoun Sandcrabs
Mike Says: It is still strange to see the Sandcrabs as a game of the week but they have had 7 consecutive 9+ win seasons and are well on their way to another one. All of this success started when Richard Whitaker took over as head coach. He will be looking for his 75th win with the Sandcrabs in this game. In last years game, it was Sandcrab football at its best. The running game piled up 309 yards on the ground and the defense held the Wildcats to 9 first downs and 143 total yards. Can the Calallen defense led by LB Kade Young (28 tackles and an amazing 10 TFL) stop that Port Lavaca running game? Calhoun already has 1,639 yards rushing yards this year which is almost 410 yards per game. This is both of their district openers. Calallen is not a team that gets pushed around much but they have been outscored by Calhoun 44-7 in their last 2 games. The SANDCRABS continue to roll as they win it 28-21!!

Port Lavaca Calhoun SandcrabsChris Says: I have really liked these two teams over the years and with Port Lavaca Calhoun's transformation into a dependable winner, this matchup has become a good one.  Sure, the Sandcrabs has dominated the last two games, but the score doesn't reflect how strong Calallen has been even in those losses.  Now, they both sit undefeated and only one can remain.  Calallen appears to have a stronger defense, but the Port Lavaca offense is taking no prisoners.   This will not be a high scoring game, but Port Lavaca will end up with more.  SANDCRABS win 28-24!!

Texas high school footballLSG Intern Zach Says: We get a little bit of “unstoppable force meets immovable object” action going here. The Sandcrabs have an impressive rushing attack led by Jakorious Williams and quarterback Hunter Boerm. This week they face one of the best linebacking corps’ in the state in Calallen, which has cruised through its first three games. Running back Chris Price has emerged to give Derek Scheible a strong weapon out of the backfield, and that has this offense operating at a high level. The Sandcrabs have come out swinging, but Phil Danaher’s Wildcats will prove too tough. Wildcats 28-17.

Port Lavaca Calhoun SandcrabsLSG Intern William Says: Calhoun had a 17-0 shutout last year so this Calallen team is looking for revenge this week. Calallen has started off on fire this year scoring over 40 points a game and have two shutouts as well. This Calhoun team has looked just as good and have started off 4-0. I expect the triple option offense, led by Hunter Boerm, will continue to harass the Calallen defense. Sandcrabs win 42-14.
