Sherman Hires Bill Patterson After Gary Kinne Resigns

The Sherman Bearcats have hired Justin Northwest's Bill Patterson to be their next head coach. Patterson will replace Gary Kinne who resigned after leading the Bearcats to a 4-6 record last season which was coach Kinne's first losing record in his 9 years of being a head coach.

Kinne began his coaching career in 1991 as as assistant at Kaufman. He also coached as an assistant at Allen and at Mesquite during the teams 2001 Class 5A Division I state championship run. He also was an assistant coach and recruiter at Baylor, his alma mater where he played middle linebacker. His first head coaching position was at Canton where he led the Eagles to a 28-10 record over 3 seasons and leading them to their first playoff berth in 39 years. He then coached one season at Clovis West California going 10-3. He took over at Sherman in 2009 and led the Bearcats to a 41-18 record over 5 seasons. He took them to the Quarterfinals in 2011 only the third time in school history. Kinne’s oldest son, G.J. Kinne was a starting quarterback for Tulsa and is now a member of the Philadelphia Eagles.

Patterson comes over from Justin Northwest where he led the Texans to a 24-29 record over 5 seasons. Before that he was at Garland Naaman Forest for 9 seasons going 42-53. His first head coaching position was at Canyon where his teams went 28-18 over 4 seasons.
