Lone Star Gridiron 2014 Texas high school football players of the year

Winner: RB Kevin Johnson (Waskom)

Waskom running back Kevin Johnson positioned himself as the leading rusher on the 2014 championship team. Kevin had 134 carries, 1,995 yards and 21 touchdowns for the year. He also had five catches for 66 yards and two touchdowns. He also made his presence felt on special teams as he had six returns for 189 yards and three touchdowns.  Johnson was a four-time all state at many different positions and district player of the year.

2. RB Traion Smith (Cameron Yoe)

Cameron Yoe's running back, Traion Smith, ran the ball for a total of 2,250 yards. His carries ended with the ball in the end zone for 34 touchdowns in the 2014 season.

3. QB Reid Nickerson (Cameron Yoe)

Quarterback Reid Nickerson, of Cameron Yoe, completed 195 passes on 323 attempts. Nickerson threw for 3,190 yards with 44 touchdowns in the 2014 season.

4. RB JuneBug Johnson (Waskom)

Cousin to our Class 3A Offensive Player of the Year (Kevin Johnson) running back Junebug Johnson, of Waskom, played many roles by doing anything his team needed to win the championship game. June Bug finished the year with 114 carries for 1,283 yards and 15 touchdowns. He also had six catches for 173 yards and two touchdowns. On special teams, he had 11 returns for 179 yards and one touchdown.
