Celina Ends Argyle’s Winning Streak

Celina Makes a Statement Against Argyle

The Celina Bobcats beat the Argyle Eagles Friday night 46-36 to end the Eagles 31 game regular season winning streak.

In this much anticipated match-up between 4A powers, the Bobcat offense rolled up over 600 yards of offense on the way to the win. Going into the game, Celina was ranked #5 in Class 4A Division II while Argyle who was last years Class 4A Division I runner up was ranked #2 in 4A DI. The Bobcats offense was led by Jarren Alexander who rushed for 222 yards and 3 touchdowns and quarterback Conner Pingleton who ran for 197 yards while passing for 167 yards.

The 31 consecutive regular season wins put Argyle in 70th place on the all-time list. Just last week, Northside Brennan had their 34 game streak ended. Allen is coming close to making the list as they are now at 28 consecutive regular season wins. Allen also has a 46 game (regular season + playoffs) winning streak going. Surprisingly though, with these teams having a history of having great teams, this 10 point margin was the closest game they have played against each other in 8 games.
