Class 6A LSG 2018 Coach Of The Year

Each year, Lone Star Gridiron sends out ballots to our Fans, TXHSFB Coaches, Brotherhood members and our staff/contributors. We compile those votes to select our players and coaches of the year.

This year, Longview's John King was selected as the 2018 Class 6A LSG Coach Of The Year. Coach King's Lobos had a great season finishing with a perfect 16-0 record and winning the Class 6A Division II Championship. It was their first championship since 1937.

Coach King was almost a unanimous winner. LSG had him #1 in the voting as did the Coaches and the Brotherhood. The Fans had him #2 in the voting behind Beaumont West Brook's Eric Peevey. Peevey finished #3 in the overall rankings. The runner up spot went to Galena Park North Shore's John Kay.

King has a record of 168-36-0 with a the Lobos and all-time. That puts in a tie for 194th place on the all-time coaching wins list.
