Westlake Lures Odessa Permian Coach To Austin

Austin Westlake was able to hire a big time coach when Darren Allman from Odessa Permian accepted the position. Allman has been head football coach and athletic director at Odessa Permian High School since 2005, posting a 38-11 record in four years. His teams won the district title in 2007 and 2008 and went on to the regional finals with identical 12-1 records each year.

The 2007 and 2008 seasons were the first back to back 10-win seasons at the school in 20 years. In 2008, Allman was named District Coach of the Year and was selected to coach the North Team in the Texas High School Coaches Association All-Star Game. He also was the All-West Texas Coach of the Year in both 2006 and 2007.

Allman’s previous experience included one season as the defensive coordinator at Highland Park High School (2004) and two years as the defensive coordinator at Temple High School. Before that, he spent eight years on the staff at Brownwood High School.
