Notes:
Abilene Wylie does not have a lot of starters returning but they do have 26 lettermen which should mean another great season for the Bulldogs. They play is one of the states toughest districts and every game is a game of the week. To go along with that Wylie plays one of the toughest pre-district schedules also. Last year they played Liberty Hill (14-1), 4A Wolfforth Frenship (13-1) and Waco La Vega (12-3). When it comes playoff time, this team has been tested and has earned every win. Coach Sandifer is going for his 200th win to begin the season so a big LSG salute goes out to him. This will be a great team to watch this year. Expect them to go 8-2 or 9-1 in the season and then make a another run at the championship.

Returning Lettermen: 23

Returning Starters: Offense: 6 Defense: 4

Key Players:
QB Jr Michael Brewer (son of former Longhorns quarterback Robert Brewer)
WR Andy Erickson 69-665 yards 6 TDs
WR Conner Floyd 41-735 yards 8 TDs
OG/LB Trevor Gillette
OL Ian Kelso
LB Quinton Crow 1st Team All State 129 tackles 35 solo 14 TFL 5 sacks
S Ian Lazarus 98 tackles 10 TFL

Notes:
Its time to figure out what life will be without Garrett Gilbert at Austin Lake Travis. Their will probably never be another Gilbert but JR QB Michael Brewer looks to be another great QB for the Cavaliers. He has good receivers and a good offensive line to help out. What people dont realize is that the defense is also very good. Crow and Lazarus will be tough to get past again this year. I am not sure that Lake Travis can make it 3 in a row but they will get close. Expect them to go 8-2 or 9-1 (yes they will finally lose a game) and go 2 or 3 rounds deep into the playoffs.

Notes:
Dayton lost the key players that took them to the Championship game last year but a strong defense and history is on their side. The defense will lead the Broncos this season and with only 1 losing season in the last 12 years, they know how to win football games in Dayton. Dont expect them to make another run to the championship game but they are the top team in 19-4A and should finsish the season with a 7-3 or 8-2 record.

Notes:
No one expected Wylie to go from 5-6 in 2007 to the state championship game in 2008. What do the Pirates have in store for us this season. With Knott, Harper and Chesier behind a good offensive line leading the offense and Ball dominating on the defensive side, can they make it back to back appearances at the state championship game? They play is a very tough district battling Allen and Plano for the district 8-5A championship. Look for them to go 7-3 or 8-2 for the regular season and be a tough out in the playoffs. It will be tough to duplicate what they did last season because now they are the hunted and not the hunter.

Notes:
Del Valle will have a tough time getting more wins than losses again this year but it could happen. Look for them to finish around 5-5 and fighting for that 4th playoff spot in 17-4A. Their offense is solid with Cortez, Chisholm and Johnson all returning. Can the Cardinals get their 4th winning season in the last 26 years in ’09?

Notes:
Texarkana Texas will battle for the district title once again with Longview. The Tigers have a lot of returning lettermen from last years Area playoff team and we should get at least a repeat performance this year. This team will be a very tough out in the playoffs.
