Coaching Changes — Cuero

Cuero Head Coach Mark Reeve has resigned as athletic director and head football coach at Cuero and has accepted a position as the assistant head coach and defensive coordinator at Texas Lutheran University. Reeve will join the staff of Danny Padron at Texas Lutheran which is a NCAA Division III school in Seguin. Padron has been the athletic coordinator and head football coach at San Antonio O'Connor the past eight seasons and previously coached with Reeve at San Antonio Clark. Reeve and Padron coached together for 9 years at San Antonio Clark. Texas Lutheran is coming off an 0-10 season.

Reeve leaves Cuero after seven seasons during which he led the Gobblers to seven undefeated district championships, five state semifinal appearances in the last six years, and a trip to the 2004 state final. Reeve began his head coaching career at Victoria and was also a head coach at Plano West before coming to Cuero. He has an overall head coaching record of 192-37-4 (sixth highest winning percentage all-time in Texas) and went 84-11 at Cuero.

Reeve, who officially came out of retirement when he took the Cuero job was inducted into the Texas High School Coaches Association's Hall of Honor in 2007. His son Travis was the offensive coordinator at Cuero.

The Gobblers went 13-1 last season and advanced to the Class 3A, Division I semifinals before losing 42-36 to eventual state champion Gilmer. They have won their last 34 home games under Reeve that dates back to 2003.
